Some improvements for lab

I feel your pain Treffnix. One thing is to ask for free points, but other thing is to complain about the very real performance issues in the labyrinth and how the whole design lacks robustness for that kind of issues. I love the labyrinth, but there is so much to improve yet...

I used to be in the 'remove ascendancy points from lab' camp, and still am in terms of pure game design, but after seeing the ascendancy stats it's apparent they can't remove the points from the lab.

That appears to be one of, if not the only, thing making a lot people want to experience it and removing those points could cause it's popularity to tank even more.

The counter argument being people will feel more inclined to run labs if they don't feel forced to as it won't feel like a chore.

They would have to increase its appeal by increases the amount of treasure, or exp a player gets from it if they did remove points.


tl'dr: The lab is too good to leave it in the state it's in but until they increase its appeal, points need to stay.

Regarding making the lab more appealing:

- It should drop more loot, contain monsters of higher level. Maybe this could be a 4th, fully optional lab level, as an alternative to mapping.

- The enchantments should be easier to select (not saying 100%, but influencable).

- Maybe one could get extra rewards like this:
When you finish the lab, you get a score scaled by (No. of traps which hit you)/(No of minutes spent in the lab).
This might make it interesting to cut a fine line between getting rewards for being hit in the lab vs dieing in the lab :)

If the lab becomes more appealing, the ascendancy points could indeed be given when finishing each difficulty, so it becomes optional.
That way, technical issues in the lab wouldn't have such a high impact.

Little addition to this comment: I'd rather see less thrash mobs, and more Bloodlines and Nemesis mobs. As it is most monsters would be skipped anyway, so quality over quantity would be great.

Completely uninstall the game, don't just redownload the GPPK or whatever.


In terms of being fucked, I hope not in this case in others that however might be a blessing.

I don't agree, the only thing about the enchants that we need to know is wtf is up with the ilevel 75 shit, to me this is annoying as fuck. Perhaps just added to pissoff data miners its really annoying that I can't plan builds around them seeing as they arent possible yet, but are listed on various forms and stuff.

The lab is suppose to have a ladder to compete with the fastest times per day per difficulty, which have rewards. That would spice things up a bit.

Really, NTY those mobs don't provide additional awards they just are a PITA for various builds that are "forced" to run the lab and would have to play much differently if every rare\blue was "special" the saying also goes if all are "special" none are.

Most of the game suffers from that, really. It's not until maps that you are incentivized towards full clears. The game could reduce density in exchange for tougher monsters.

Less density impacts a lot of things and changes the fundamental design of the game. Especially because flask are in consideration, granted they could adjust flask charges, but they also have to adjust everything from the ground up and would require extensive testing to do so.

That isn't something I think they want to spend time on and is a completely different topic.

But they can for the labyrinth? Blue and rare monsters give more flask charges anyway. This game changes abruptly from time to time so it seems material for a big expansion (like the Awakening).

OK, tried that. Still f*cked. Silver box -> instant client crash. Will try Izzy tomorrow, avoiding all boxes on the way. Today I'm just too frustrated.
