What are you talking about? He isn't trying to do that, he's asking for even more fun!
And worst change is putting almost all bosses in new version of maps into fucking small areas, where you can't kite well or dodge stuff. What a terrible idiot invented that I want say to him: dude flick you, seriously flick you very much.
you have my vote for this petition
Did I ever tell you what the definition of insanity is? Insanity is doing the exact... same fucking thing... over and over again expecting... shit to change... That. Is. Crazy. thinking: "This time is gonna be different. No, no, no please... This time is gonna be different."

So yeah, you don't like the labyrinth, I get it. Your analogy is kind of.... flawed, though.

If the lab isn't fun to you, pay someone five chaos to get you through in 10 minutes. Three times 10 minutes is still faster than Act4 in Normal and Cruel difficulty. Ignore the enchants or buy the ones you need.

Just don't destroy the fun for the ones that enjoy it, please.

Nice idea... perhaps You wish to do it for my 14 chars and all future ones for 5 chaos? Will take 10 minutes only, I've heard. Also "kinda" flawed analogy right there...

Moving points away from lab reward, would kill the fun they say... how would this happen exactly? Please explain how would this kill fun of running lab, I really don't get it? I had the impression anyways, You only get points once, no? So people who like the lab, already run it without getting that, as reward. Atleast for those it hasn't killed the fun, I assume...

Not forced to run Atziri either, nor level up masters. Or kill Malachai on merciless. Then will not miss key features of this game, unlike if not running through that bs lab on each char. That really has bigger impact on char, imo. And those I mentioned above, I think are more close to the "usual" PoE gameplay anyways, compared to this new "fun" feature. Those can skip, no harm done. Can skip big bad guy behind all, in storyline, cannot skip some stupid minigame inside PoE, very very odd I think design-wise.

They say GGG did this partially to get rid of alt F4... worst solution ever, if so. 5 sec delay for char to leave area on logoff, where are You?
What I've seen of the lab, I liked. Pity it always crashed before I even got further than 3 rooms. I still think it's a good idea, IFF the engine can handle it.

But kudos to the OP, he summarized the forum knights' responses perfectly and made me smile.
May your maps be bountiful, exile
Nice Q&A ... but this won't work if glasscannon builds doesn't have an advantage in racing. How do you want to solve the problem? Maybe a defensive built char is much slower on the rhoa? In addition enemys spawn and slow you down and you need enough deeps to get past them? And of course, enemys deal damage in % of life without the chance to mitigate any damage. I think that sounds more like PoE.

Help Charan color the board - use [u color] to make your posts shine.
I know you're trying to demean it by calling it NASCAR race, but I think an escape sequence of some sort would actually be pretty cool, and of course the principle of an escape sequence is the same as a race.

It's easy to get hung up on what ARPGs "should" do and "should not" do, but if every game did what it should there would never be any innovation. FPS games would never have shifted from deathmatch to team objectives, MOBAs would never have emerged from RTS, RPGs would still be turn based. Maybe this change isn't for you, but that doesn't mean change is bad.

"Should" is a dangerous word.

Easy solution. Monster-killing is an outdated form of ARPG gameplay anyhow, so remove all monsters and disable friendly fire.

BAM. Problem solved.

You're welcome. :)

GGG can make it like a 10-race course that takes about 5 minutes per race, but if you win enough some of them will be cut out, so it will only end up taking 10-20 minutes, depending on how you place. The gameplay works like this: alternate R-click and L-click to make your rhoa run, but not too fast, because you want to keep it in rhythm with your rhoa's feet. If you go too fast, your rhoa gets tired and has to stop to catch his breath! And people can use D and F to change lanes.

Because this changes the core controls of the game.

A better example would be that players race through a series of Circular Maps (Tidal Island, Fetid Pool, etc) while running through beneficial Tempests to gain buffs and dodging hazardous Tempests that debuff you. Buffs and debuffs are persistent and stackable, but one debuff will terminate all of your buffs, and vice versa. At the end of each map is a mini boss to defeat. At the end of X number of maps you fight the main boss. For each debuff on you when you defeat a boss grants a chance for better loot.

Notice that the core mechanics of the game still persist. Movement is not changed, combat is not changed, you are not adding any new key presses. The primary purpose of the game is also still in tact: kill, reward.
