They're often not about blatant dead-ends forcing a lot of backtracking, stopping-and-starting style game-play. Secret passages. Seemingly random elements.

Read: all the things that make the labyrinth fun to play.

Izaro isn't so fun, but surely I'll get better at him in time.

I love the lab, but also agree with this suggestion. I'll still probably play it for my new chars, but for my already leveled ones, it's going to be really silly. I also feel this will help people who really don't like the lab stay in game. They only have to do it 1 time, and then they can move on to maps.

Also, I didn't know you had to do the trials every time. I agree it should be like the unlocking the scion, and you shouldn't need to do it more than once.

Well put indeed. :)

Some Standard and Hardcore players (i.e. not those in the Perandus leagues) have a lot of characters that they want to Ascend. Running 18 Trials and 3 Labyrinths is a lot of work when you have several high-level characters from each previous challenge league. We will be running a process tomorrow that will grant some Ascendancy points to existing Standard/Hardcore characters. Characters in Cruel will receive two points and characters in Merciless will receive four points. You still need to run a Labyrinth to actually choose an Ascendancy class. This means that if you run the Merciless Labyrinth, it'll be equivalent to running all three (due to the bonus four points). Note that this is a one-time process that we run, and only applies to existing permanent league characters.

GZ guys, I can still see some potential incoming complaints, but this is a pretty good outcome for a lot of players.

Massive thanks to GGG for producing such a fun and engaging game, it has taken up faaaaaaar too much of my life over the last 5 years.

Best of luck in the future!

ohhh dont worry it gonna be.

It just means for future contents, a bunch of us will be using this case ask for free normal+cruel award by doing the merc one. :) I hope I wont need to do Act 5+ normal/Cruel again

besides, this also prove 1 thing. If u are a veteran players have existing characters = you have privilege of doing less. The new guy who started all his new char? He will have to do 3x more to get the same thing. lol

A really large part of the game is about re-playing the same content over and over and over. x3. For each character.

Don't get me wrong, I would love the ability to get all Cruel and Normal rewards by completing the merciless versions on the missions. So I 100% agree with your idea in that respect. If you want to bring an old character back up to speed, it would be cool if you didn't have to sit through the same stuff 3 times (and two of those times at a really easy difficulty) whenever they release new content.

But it makes no sense to just do it for the Labyrinth IMO.
I know right? I hope that I wont touch all Act5+ normal/cruel content.

Thanks Chris for listening to our feedback, thanks Charan for bringing awareness to this subject, and thanks Hilldrake for suggesting something along the line that will ease up a bit for permanent characters.
Sometimes you can take the game out of the garage but you can't take the garage out of the game.

well played char, a good thing for the game. much appreciated.

Sweet they included the 4 points for one run in cruel, most of my chars haven't see merc xD.

Thanks GGG!

Edit: The way they're implementing this as a one time thing for existing characters on permanent leagues suggests their reluctant to change it on the whole.

I've already taken three characters through normal and cruel labyrinths. These are almost a breeze for a reasonably leveled and equipped character (player clumsiness aside), and the loot is near useless, so I guess it's fair enough that standard characters don't have to do it all again. Having said that, it might still be worthwhile for enchanting gear, depending how tough the merciless labyrinth is.

I haven't got any character through the merciless labyrinth yet. Three attempts, three server crashes between the second and third aspirant trial. Bleep bleep bleepity bleep!

The trials in every difficulty were a bit tedious, and I'd have settled for not having to do those again. It's fine if you are leveling a new character, you are in the area anyway and it would be expected to be more of a challenge. Also, I don't mind having to do the merciless trials again. 10% XP loss should keep me on my toes!
No, we haven't done it. Lab is still mandatory for Ascendancy point and Crit Multi still requires divining items we have already rolled.

A small step isn't a victory. Many changes still need to be made. I personally never want to do Lab even once, on any character, nor do I want to divine my items I have already rolled just to change a word in the stats.

2.2 is shit and needs IMMEDIATE and drastic changes.

I would love to see the stats of the number of people who have quit so far. This is an expansion... 95%+ of players are supposed to love an expansion... this is sub 50%.
