meh, i dunno... i dont know any melee which would like to stay at one place. in my opinion, its useless.

Maybe I can help you see how this all fit. Totems are Vaal magic, which means they are powered by thaumaturgy. Now, all gems are pieces of thaumaturgy. It is not dificult to imagine the Vaal messing with ballistas and gems, trying to figure out a way to make them fire by themselves.

As for the Ancestral Totem, It is not known if the Karui existed at the same time the Vaal did, but it is very much possible, as we can evidence by the totems that guard Karui spirits in Haku's Missions, which can easily lead to a perfected gem that controls a Totem that has an Ancestral Karui spirit imprisioned.

Lore wise and design wise, both skills fit quite neatly, being both explained by magic, called thaumaturgy in this game. Much like traps and mines being mechanical (but not wihtout their own share of magic).

Seems to significantly slow down the clear speed.
You will always need to focus on being in range and resummoning totems instead of attacking.
For pure totem builds - maybe. For boss fights only - maybe. But not for everyday use.

Too slow for the party play.
Absolutely useless for PvP.

First off, I don't give 1 shit about streamers.

Secondly, I never said melee sucked or that I'm struggling as melee. Also killing monsters is the least of my concerns. If someone is having a hard time PvM'ing in this game...haha.

Lastly, if you think you can even debate ranged+crit < melee in every area of this game....again haha. Doesn't matter by how much, by design it'll always be the case. Implementing totems for melee is not going to change that. But then again PvM is PvM and that's your focus, it's already easy anyways. Now back to letting streamers dictate most of your gaming my man.


Wow i mention Etup and you automatically Think oh he is only talking about streamers LuL to you good sir i mentioned Etup because for the past couple of leagues he has been either the top or near the top,so get your head out of the clouds.

If i let streamers dictate what builds i would run then i would most certainly spend my time running what you would call superior builds,And it is funny that you mention once again that range is superior in every aspect of the game so once again you are saying melee is nothing to even look at.






I’d better see an ability to attach a melee skill to it (like with spell totem and ranged attack totem).
Flicker Strike or Cyclone totems could be really fun and a lot more useful! :)

When you first mentioned siege ballista it also didn´t sound so great, but now I think it is a really nice gem. So this looks a bit stupid, like whak-a-mole, but I think it can become great, also when it will create a new group of melee totems.

But I got a question: When I curse an enemy with punishment and it hits me will the totem get the punishment buff? I guess so cause as far as I understand those Totems will have the tags totem, melee, attack and so they are influenced by any totem, melee and weapon passive and also buff like f.e. HoA.
I wish a Chuck Norris totem that work with spell echo, Matrioska -like.
Than the cirlcle will be complete.
