Past of Exile - Early Alpha Screenshots

I know almost everything is better than it used to be. I have one exception that might just be a me problem. I really like this game because I can play it one handed (here come the masturbation jokes). Good for leveling characters while you watch Netflix. More recently, I have died a few times because I have to click the menu button, then look for the inventory button, then click the portal scroll and hop in. I think it would be great to have the ability to pick three or so menu buttons that appear on your screen.

Another thing that I have always wondered about was an option to turn the sound of currency items dropping to an slight aura that appears on the screen. I am deaf and I had to read about the fact that when currency items drop, a sound can be heard when you are off screen. It makes me wonder if exalted orbs are really as rare as I think they are. Maybe I have just been off screen for the times that they have dropped and I didn't notice.

Oh man, re-reading this post makes me feel pretty awful. I love this game, it is my favorite game and for some reason it is free. I really should not complain and do not mean to. Just offering a few of the things that have bugged me.

-Just a little constructive criticism from a big supporter. A one armed, deaf dude ^_^

I only played the open beta (early open beta) in 2011 and even that looked way better than the alpha. I miss some of the old 2D art. That silk west was changed to darker colours. I would like GGG to bring it back as a Unique item with some tune up of course. Imagine how rad awesome that would be!!!

Is it just me or some of the fire effects was actually very good looking?

OMG DAT WATER!!! Even the Indians would refuse to go and swim in it. XD
Imagine if there was a bug somewhere where people would clip trough a wall and find themselves in the alpha with that water.

I actually like the idea of rare and magic monsters to have a glow under them. Note those kind from the alpha of course but something that looks good yet minimalistic in design. For example I liked how Unreal Tournament 2003 had those glowing orbs (red and blue) in the shoulders of characters to tell friend and foe apart more easily.
Of course with the miriad of effects and buffs novadays it would be nearly impossible to tell if it was just the indicator of that monster being a rare or it has a buff.

I also like how the UI looked very similar to Diablo 2!!! Memories man!!!

You've certainly come a long way and most of the things changed for the better.

Good work, hope this game will get support for Vulcan once it is out there, the only thing ppl can complain is about performance, once the biggest (desync) issue died :)

That would be great, as it would mean a realistic chance for a Linux port. Sadly, I don't think Vulcan is a priority for GGG, I can't see them as technology leaders.
The more you depend on forces outside yourself, the more you are dominated by them.
