Three New Supporter Uniques
In addition to the Talisman Challenge Leagues and new gems introduced by Content Update 2.1.0, we're also adding more Unique Items! Today we'd like to showcase three of these, which have been created by our supporters. These will be released on December 11 alongside this update and the new leagues.
You may have already seen Kongming's Stratagem on our Talisman page, but let's take a closer look at what this shield does. Kongming's Stratagem is based on a Chinese historical figure who was renowned for his clever tactics in the face of an overwhelming enemy force. Many of these mods reflect an aspect of his story or persona.
The removal of block chance is a hefty downside for a shield, and reflects the flimsy nature of the feathered fan. The Intelligence reinforces the "strategy over combat" idea, while also aiding players with meeting gem and gear requirements.
"Socketed Trap Skills create a Smoke Cloud when Triggered" is a specific reference to Kong Ming's various tactical uses of smoke and mist to confuse encroaching armies and shroud his own. This also opens up new tactical uses for traps, helping remedy the missing block chance by halving the chance of enemies in the smoke cloud to hit with attacks. The "Reduced Spell Damage taken from Blinded Enemies" mod supplements this further by ensuring that, regardless of who is in the smoke cloud, you get a strong defensive benefit.
The "Increased Fire Damage to Blinded Enemies" mod is another strong reference to the Kong Ming myths, but also synergizes strongly with Fire Trap, or whatever fire skills a player chooses to follow a thrown trap with.
Rotgut is a Quicksilver Flask for players who value speed above all else. Granting additional movement speed on use, Rotgut strongly rewards players who accumulate frenzy charges with even more speed (in the form of Onslaught). The tricky part will be maintaining that high speed, as the flask also consumes significantly more charges than a typical Quicksilver Flask, making this an unreliable escape method.
For our Summoner players (We know there's a lot of you out there!) Femurs of the Saints provides some very powerful benefits, as well as some interesting predicaments. Unlike other summoner weapons, Femurs of the Saints does not increase the number of any type of minion. Instead, each type of minion referenced in the mods powers up other minions.
Skeletons, which typically don't last long and mostly serve as bone-walls, are a major source of increased damage for as long as they are alive. Spectres, which tend to come in the smallest numbers and often play a defensive or supporting role, are also a large damage boost. Zombies, who have an infinite duration, serve to increase the durations of your minions who don't, and Raging Spirits, whose life you don't much care about, can ensure that your Zombies and Spectres (whose life you might care about!) stay alive. Or is that undead? Either way, it means that optimising any one minion type requires that you be utilizing at least one other; a ghoulish juggling act.
These, and many more items, are all coming in our Talisman update in just a few weeks!
