I have a crit ice shot character that uses puncture for single target damage. My ice shot does about 23,000 dps and my puncture does about 12,000 on the tooltip. I don't even have a drillneck yet. I have a 52% crit chance and a 600% multiplier. I literally one-shot piety and Dominus. Less than a second. Rogue exiles, too. They like to move around so puncture makes a joke out of them.

On my noob shadow, I'm finding that on dangerous mobs that I don't want to get near, I'm liking Flicker Strike - Puncture - Whirling Blades (to get away). Can't really do that combo with Viper Strike. Seems that Viper Strike would be ideal for a shadow tank build.
