Announcing the Five-week Darkshrine Events

Few things--

Is there a Darkshrine to be found in every zone? I hope so.

Secondly, any word on Halloween themed MTXs? Haven't heard a peep on that.

Path of Jonathan might be exciting. and then there will be streamer rips.. like when you put in a crappy item and get rewarded accordingly. so, you are "sacrificing" a rare worth a scroll fragment you spawn 3 abaxoths on the spot.

This sound really wierd :P

I think your right that is wouldn't be good for a full league but the idea is the same as the as the idea in torchlight (put an item in enchanter and it gives random effects good or bad)

I think this could make for a nice added thing in std/HC just like strongboxes

I hope each shrine effect comes with an associated atmospheric text/quote (diablo 1 style), so we can eventually identify them all. I'd be disappointed if it always required investigation to determine which event we got.

Diablo 1 shrine examples:

"The hands of men may be guided by fate." = +2 dex
"Arcane power brings destruction." = cast nova + refill mana
"Crimson and Azure become as the sun." = converts all potions into rejuvenation
"New strength is forged through destruction." -10 max durability to one item, +10 to others

etc.

(the shrines in D1 had names too, "hidden", "cryptic", "secluded", etc., so you could know beforehand what it did and decide whether to click on it. Clearly that won't work here since we're using a generic darkshrine with effects determined by what is sacrificed. So while we can't quite opt in to specific events (unless they're reliably tied to specific sacrifices), it would still be nice to have some hint toward which event we received (such as flavor text /lore popup, or possibly even a distinct sound effect).

Quite a few GGG staff play on personal accounts in the leagues and perms, most notably (my sincere apologies to the others) Neon, who does tend to be visible on HC ladders, and occasional SC ladders when he is slumming it with us SC plebs.

Void League ?

Will we encounter a shrine random in the instance? or does it always spawn at the start of a level? Will every level have a shrine or are they random?
