"Next level" stats please
It would be much better if when hovering over skill gems (at least when you can level them up), it would tell you the stats of the next level, kinda like diablo 2 did. Right now i really dont know how powerful my skills are because i dont pay attention to the stats of them at all. If it were to tell me exactly how much better it got with each level i would be more interested in it, and as my character progressed i would feel more powerful seeing the numbers increase on my skills. Its just one of those satisfaction thing, seeing your skills grow better and better.

We're trying to find a good non-spammy way to communicate this. It's likely they'll be on the website soon too.

" I still think the best way to do this to have an extended tooltip feature. When you hover over something the normal tooltip comes up instantly. After a few seconds (maybe allow the user to set the duration) the tooltip extends to show the additional information. That way if someone just wants to check a number quickly they can do that without being bombarded with tons of text but the additional information is still there and easily accessible in an intuitive manner. " I think this is something that definately need to happen sooner rather than later (its in the manifesto, I know). Tooltips are really missing from this game. I just picked up the Iron Reflexes passive. Went from 150 armor/400 evasion to 550 armor. What did that mean for my character? I have absolutely no clue because when I hover over 150 armor / 400 evasion, it doesn't tell me anything about what benefit that defensive stat gives me. IGN Snarky/LightBrigade/Firebreather

"But you can see estimated physical damage reduction and chance to evade on your character screen, right? | |
" Ya, and maybe this is just my ignorance showing, but its not clear that my armor rating directly translates into physical damage reduction % and evasion rating directly translates into % chance to evade (more obvious) regardless of other modifiers. If I were to hover over my armor rating, and it said for example 550 armor -> 23% physical damage reduction, but the next stat said 27% total physical damage reduction, then I would know what part my armor rating playing into that. And if its the only component, then its a moot point. Similar for evasion. My evasion rating contributes to my chance to evade attacks, but is it the only factor? Dexterity? Passives? Kinda off topic from the thread, so I apologize. The beta manifesto states that you're not satisfied with the tooltips for skills, and I think with a few minor addition stupid confusion like mine can be eliminated. Mods/passives affect your armor/evade rating directly. The total is then converted into an estimated percentage. The percentage already accounts for everything that can modify that sort of mitigation (e.g., your armor rating translates into an estimated physical damage reduction percentage, which is the entirety of your physical damage reduction).

" Physical damage reduction only comes from armor (which is an estimate... you get different percentages depending on how hard you're hit) and endurance charges... and the reduction from endurance charges doesn't show up on the character sheet unless you actually have those charges active. Back on topic, I think it would be great to also list what the bonuses are for additional quality. For example, it is not obvious that +12% quality on Raise Spectre translates to +12% increased minion speed.

I've also got a 10% quality mana leech gem that doesn't seem to gain any quality bonus.
(For display purposes, I'd just put the quality percentage and whatever bonus it grants in a slightly different color.) ------
