Unplayable Lagspikes: Deutsche Telekom explained

Does someone know if GGGs servers stayed the same during all this time?
Or did they maybe migrate some game server capacity to another provider just lately and unintentionally caused the problems by doing so?

I remember Blizzard having similiar problems in D2 long time ago.
Massive packetloss, desync, high ping, disconects. Telia was frequently mentioned as cause of the problem. Blizzard dealt with the problem once and it never appeared again.

Telekom is the real problem here. The current latency issues are just the icing on the cake of my list of complaints about this atrocious company. [...]

You are absolutely right about everything you just said, except that it's just not solely Deutsche Telekom but all major providers/companies that have been privatized.

Considering Deutsche Telekom is a 60 Billion $ company i would guess our odds of changing anything are high. Therefore, changing the server / paying the traffic fee is by faar not a fair solution for GGG, but it is the only solution currently available.

yeah....currently playing on Washington DC server....with a STABLE 115 ms ping.
Living in EU and playing in the US.
Seems legit in 2015.
I'm in France and i have the same issue since the start of the one month race.
Maybe there is a problem with Deutsche Telekom but there is also a problem with Bouygues Telecom then and this is connecting to any european servers after 7PM GMT.
I had to switch to predictive mode because in lockstep it was unplayable.

It was bad on the 06/10 and horrible on the 07/10 when i had to switch to predictive.

During the day i had no noticeable lag spike.
Same Problem here (Deutsche Telekom) with VPN i have my old ping back (33ms) but the lags are harder with freezes,

t-com + PoE = disaster

I think the only thing that can be done is to change server location or rather choose to rent servers from another company that does not have the routing problem as already mentioned.

no it won't help as the problem's source lies within the deutsche telekom which refuses (for commercial gain) to fully take part in big peering points like frankfurt (just google "dtag and peering".

ggg would have to open a server within the deutsche telekom network to circumvent that. or force softlayer (their provider) to make a direct peering contract with deutsche telekom.

I want to see that... :D
A small indie studio forcing some multibillion $ companies to contract for a connection that will lose one side money.
The thing is that it not only affects German players, but also France and Italian people
since Layer3 has no direct routing contracts with the countrie's main providers.

I am pretty sure a solution can be found, since other Games have no issues with their EU servers.
I see GGG responsible for finding a solution here, since we, the european playerbase, have no tools to change anything server related.

It would also help if they could make an official statement about investigating named issues.
At least some info to let us know they care about us.

The only people that can change anything about the whole issue are politicians. If they finaly define net neutrality and make shit like what is happening at the moment really illegal.

Maybe write some politicians emails and inform them about the issue and how these companies step around the whole net neutrality part and ask for a statement.
