Same exact crap here with 1&1, looks like you can't escape.
So PoE is playable about a third of the day, unless I adapt my sleeping schedule to whenever most of the US is asleep, then I guess I could play about 50% of the time. A bunch of threads about this concerning different games date back to 2013 and 2014. Same shit, different time. No idea if or when anything will happen, there isn't a decent enough lobby to produce a negative marketing effect, so we can only hope that at some point something will be done to lessen the load for different reasons but who knows when that may happen. Shame, if it were Netflix or anything that actually generates more than a few kilobytes of traffic, I could stomach this better. Paying 30€ for 50 mbit only to not be able to watch youtube videos in a decent resolution or play a game whenever I want. Well, other people have real problems and I'm looking forward to a vacation off the grid. ... is not a troll

Or you could just try using a VPN to avoid the problem area altogether.

It was working fine with BattlePing the last two weeks (though getting even more disconnects with it, at least it felt like it), but just tried it out now and it's also a mess.

I'm playing, or at least I'm trying, from Italy and I have been experiencing the same issue.
The game has been unplayable since 20 days at least, and I can't see the light at the end of the tunnel. I think I will be dropping the game soon :/ |

German Telekom here too.
Having lag spikes too the past 2 weeks or something and never had any issues. Since the 1M Franfurt increased from 35ms to 80ms now and I have to use Amsterdam (33). Lockstep is unplayable with spikes up to 300ms every once in a while. :( The fact that I as a German cannot use the German gateway really tells something about the routing I seem to get.

I think the only thing that can be done is to change server location or rather choose to rent servers from another company that does not have the routing problem as already mentioned.
I tried to play it with a VPN client today, it's better but had two instances today where I died (and no, it wasn't my fault, I fuck up pretty regulary and would admit it) because it just froze for over 5 seconds and then I was done for. So I am already jumping through hoops to play this game and it doesn't fix shit. |

Using Re-Sellers like O2, Vodafone, 1&1, etc it does not matter:
Deutsche Telekom runs all internet services related to DSL, said companies are just reselling to end license consumers (you), but still use Telekom's cables and routing. Therefore all lagspikes are persistent on those resellers too. The only companies not affected by that are cable-tv providers like Kabel-Deutschland or Unitymedia, since they don't rely on Deutsche Telekom's infrastructure. EU Server problems exist since month and are affecting more and more players while GGG blames us end license consumers, demanding winMTR screenshots. Any solution that suggests that GGG kneels before the almighty telekom and choses a provider that has paid the telekom bribe might help for now (though its plainly JUST WRONG!). But the problem will return for most of you sooner or later in different games or just when one of the new providers decides he doesnt want to pay the bribe any longer. And yes i had this issue on other games. Telekom used to be a state owned enterprise. At this time most of the infrastucture was build. It was privatized in 1995. Since then they have been milking germany and only "cared" about the bigger cities. There are SHITLOADS of places in germany where you can be happy to even get a connection which can be called "DSL". Telekom invests the profits they make into their foreign businisses to spread like a cancer world wide. As soon as Telekom is the biggest provider in your country you are fucked. @GGG: instead of just switching your servers. PLEASE give the telekom the publicity they deserve. Please please please explain the origins of this problem to your community.
