Share your Feedback on an Upcoming One-month Event!
Event Type
Personally i didn't like the jarring changes in league mods every few days within the same league. It doesn't make sense to me, feels arbitrary, isn't interesting. I'd much rather you pick a set of 5 mods or whatever, and use that for the entire month. The league wasn't wildly popular because of the rotation of mods. It was popular because it was the closest thing we've had to the much-requested "everything on". Everything on would be even more popular, i think. This isn't a vote for Tempest+Warbands though. As we'll have just played these leagues, it's a really bland offering. Neither option is to my liking, but as you've already made up your minds on this dichotomy, my vote is for Flashback. But please, don't make it rotating mods, jeeze. Put some thought into it, pick 4-5 mods that would be interesting while not insanely challenging, and unleash it on us. A set Flashback combination would be far more memorable than throwing mods at the wall and seeing which stick for "this 3 days" and "that 3 days". It would feel the same as the last Flashback, rather than unique. Player Goals Challenges or level thresholds are both fine. As long as one of them is there. I recall a 1 month where it was all or nothing, with no goals set for commoners. That was annoying. I suppose i prefer level thresholds, since i'm not an achievements/challenges person. Depends on the challenges though. If they are sensible and interesting goals to shoot for, i like them. Prizes Even though i don't care about dressing up my characters, i definitely far preferred those targetted goals than random draws that are unlikely to be received. I'm sure it felt cool for the 5% that got something, but random draws for certain thresholds feels like a non-prize to me, especially if (like most thresholds), it's something i'm not interested in. Physical prizes like signed art prints are a great idea! More of that style. Hardware and such are great as well. Anything tangible is good. Feedback The first thing that comes to mind is 1 month Flashback Exiles Everywhere. Or simply 1 month Exiles Everywhere. They would probably have to go to void league, but it would be a blast. So that's my idea, our first 1 month that leads to void league. Lets you be a bit more creative/loose. Edit: One Month Endless Ledge? Having not read any of the earlier posts.
I like a mix of things from the past together with warbands and tempest, mixing up the difficulty with different amounts of mods at different times to keep things interesting. Much like the flashback event. This also allows for a soft beginning so that newer players can get into the league before dropping the whole abyssal turbo invaders thing on them. As for rewards, top players should be rewarded for playing the hardest possible content. I guess it would be great if some goals could only be achieved during the hardest combination of mods, assuming the league is mixed. Getting the mtx's, if they are indeed part of the rewards, should be fairly easy in my opinion. Failing to get a full set I imagine would be quite disheartening for a new player. It also felt as if some of the mtx's from past events were gated behind rng, since getting the right master missions could be a bit of a challenge, even when running friends' dailies.
Regardless of what set of themes you choose to have for the leagues, one thing came to mind immediately, and that is to have the entire event as a Bloodgrip event.
In my mind, it being a Bloodgrip event for an entire month, as a Flashback league with Challenges would be the most fun.
Flashback with added warbands/tempest and Mtx as reward would be great!

Flashack with warbands and tempest
The golden seraph armour is gorgeous! |

I personally hated the rotating mods from the last flashback league. It was pretty much "Oh today is X and Y mods for the league. I never like those mods so maybe I'll just not play today."
I would be in favour of an all mods, all the time league which would really encourage interesting and cool builds to try and tackle the challenge. I'm just spitballing but I think it would be fun to do two, two week races with super fun mods like exiles everywhere or endless ledge. Killed Uber Hillock in the lvl 100 Twilight Strand with a rusty spoon.

Is it possible to run an event where every zone has different mods?
So you go onto Twilight Strand and it has Turbo and Ancestral, reach Terraces and it's Lethal Tempest Anarchy, Mud Flats is Cut-Throat Warbands Blood Magic, etc. Or if you wanted to take it to an extreme, make every single unique instance have its own set of mods, then add 'Area Is Unidentified' so you have no idea what you're walking into. Nice to see feedback requests, here's my entirely selfish opinion:
Leagues) Flashback is my choice, because I'm not fond of either warbands or tempest. While flashback leagues have a few days here and there where the mods line up to make the game boring, Invasion + Beyond + Nemesis at once was some of the most fun I've had in Path of Exile ever. I think that more than makes up for the days of boring. Goals) I have a soft spot for level thresholds because it means almost everyone qualifies for some sort of prize, with each tier being harder to get through due to the diminishing returns level formula without introducing the tedium of challenges. Prizes) The only short league like this that had prizes that motivated me personally were the ones where reaching level 70+ or so entered you into a raffle for packs of all skill MTX effects currently released. I don't find armour compelling, but having the potential of finding myself with a bunch of new flashy toys to use with support gems and adding some new visual interest to skills that I've seen a million times already - that is compelling. - Although that said, I'd rather not have temporary leagues in between challenge leagues at all, especially not one month long. It just feels stale, which is why flashback is the lesser of two evils. By the time the league's ended I've already rolled and ripped all the characters I was interested to make with the current meta and it stalls out interesting changes until the temp league finishes. It isn't very fun. |
