[2.0] Lvl 93 Tempest [HC] Templar - Shock Nova/Call of the Brotherhood

Thanks for the feedback, I moved my totem to my shield :).

Should I dual wield Doryani's Catalyst in place of my shield? I can get another...

A pure armour shield offers over 1k armour and chance to block - a significant increase to survival.

Another catalyst offers significantly higher damage and more life leech.

That's honestly a call you would have to make. Me personally, I don't have the balls to run double Catalyst lol. But if you are comfortable enough with the build and feel confident then by all means more power to you.

Buy some miracle I have reached maps for the first meaningful time in a HC league, and like Lantoka would appreciate some feedback on gear as to where it should be improved. I don't have quality gems, as I was expecting to rip again...

I'll get back to you soon Cran. I'm literally falling asleep on my keyboard and I don't like to give half-ass answers.

Temporal Chains' slowing effect now applies multiplicatively with Chill's slowing effect. This will result in less of an impact when both are used on the same target.

How does this effect this build?

I took a look at your items and jewels.

Your jewels really stuck out to me; much more so than your gear. I know they can get a bit expensive but check out my jewel section and do your best to try get jewels that look like them. Also I don't think Conqueror's Potency is really worth it (assuming you could get a well rolled jewel in its place). Also do your best to get more dex on gear (I know it can be hard) so that you don't have to use Careful Planning.

As far as your gear goes, try to replace your belt; it's by far your worst piece. Next would probably be your gloves simply b/c all they have is good life/dex rolls, and a mediocre resist roll.

Your necklace is really sexy though. That thing is beautiful.

It will be a slight nerf; I don't think it will have a significant impact on this build though simply because this build isn't really a true freezing build.

I think the change will show more significantly in builds like cold snap where they are attempting to permafreeze things.

One thing to note though is that the change will probably be more noticeable in large groups if dps is a bit lacking. The longer the mobs take to die, the more noticeable this change becomes and that applies to any build.

Hey I`m currently level 66 running this build and just got the merciless unique jewel reward from act 2.

I`m wondering what jewel would be better, the Conquerer`s Efficiency, or Conquerer`s Potency.

Efficiency:
3% Reduced Mana Cost of Skills

4% Increased Skill Effect Duration

2% Reduced Mana Reserve

Potency:
4% Increased Effect of Curses casted

8% Increased Effect of Flasks

3% Increased Effect of Auras casted

I`m kind of a noob but my gut feeling was to go with Potency for the 3% increase on the heralds, and the minor buff to the dual curses, but some people said mana was an issue so that`s why I didn`t choose one yet.

Thanks,
Konane

That's actually incorrect. Heralds are NOT *auras*. They are self buffs that reserve mana, but they are not auras. Therefore the "3% Increased Effect of Auras casted" of Potency will not help your heralds.

Efficiency is a well rounded gem that helps alleviate a little bit of mana; the duration is nice for your crys/vaal spells/totems. Potency is nice for the curse effect and the flask effect is actually quite strong (more movement on a quicksilver, more armour from a granite, etc.).

The choice is up to you. If you feel like mana is an issue, take efficiency. If you have no mana issues, potency is better.
I'm currently level 51 using your build, it's very satisfying but I haven't got the Call of the Brotherhood yet :) so this gives me a goal to reach :)
Thanks !

For flasks I like this setup:

Health, Health, Granite, Quicksilver, X

For X you could use a lot of different things. Obviously there's a handful of great unique flasks to choose from.

You could also choose some other basic utility flask such as:

a 2nd Quicksilver
a Resist flask (Topaz/Sapphire help vs reflect and some map bosses)
a Quartz flask (useful for safely opening boxes/narrow maps)

Flasks are not set in stone. Obviously it's up to you because everyone plays the game different. I also highly recommend saving any good flasks you find and switch them out depending on the situation; knowing when to switch out flasks depending on the map mods is crucial.
Hi folks, hi Horatio,

This seemed like a fun off-the-beaten-path build, so I repurposed an ancient templar in standard to try it out. Turns out it is pretty fun! I've been having moderate success mapping in groups, even with a hastily thrown together set of gear. Unfortunately, I'm still kind of fragile (only at 4.7k life right now). Not having armor on my chestpiece is no good, but I didn't feel like trying to get GGGBBB on an armor chest. Also my jewels are pretty much shit.

It's pretty easy to freeze entire packs, that and offering temp chains/enfeeble makes for a pretty good support character. I'm not really able to solo maps yet.

Here's my gear. Using Lioneye's Remorse because I get enough resists from my other pieces.

Spoiler

Do you see any glaring errors in the lot? I'm pretty sure that getting less garbage jewels will help me out a bunch, but the gear probably isn't perfect either.
