More ranged weapon types!

Caster types: wands, scepters, daggers (I think those are the only 3 with good base mods)
2h melee types: Staves, maces, axes, swords.
1h melee types: daggers, claws, swords, axes, maces, "thrusting swords"
ranged types: bows

Anyone notice a disparity here?

The other problem my bro who is in beta noticed is due to all the other weapon types you see less bow drops. This makes it super hard for a ranger to have a good quality bow without having to pay an arm and a leg for it. What needs to happen is the implementation of another type of bow like there can be for example:
Long Bow
Short Bow
Cross Bow
Now the implementation of these would more or less be for now for astetic reasoning and fixes as it would make it a bit easier for the player to play a ranger without falling behind other classes who have more availability of weapon choices in the game. Later on in the games development they can do more with skills and such to help each of these options of weapons be more than cosmetic for players. But for right now from what I've seen and heard an adjustment needs to be done in game to make it more of a level player base for classes. Currently in game it seems like at times the ranger has the most against them from the start as far as gear due to the problem enacted by the drop percentages of only a single bow type in game.
MMO beta's formerly involved with:
World of Warcraft (multiple times)
Guild Wars
Aion
Lineage 2
Family Guy
etc.
wands can be ranged too.

Awanger is A WANd using ranGER, currently oneshotting mobs in ruthless and in desperade seek of a multiple projectiles gem.

What could be missing is a Str/dex projectile weapon.
Something that can be a good combination with Shields.
Perhaps some kind of grenade-launcher, javelin, boomerang or lash.

Drops are slightly biased towards your class, so a ranger should find more dex-based items than those of another attribute. Since there are 5 other classes and it's possible to get lower-level drops, it is true that good bows still don't drop very often.

More dex-based ranged weapons would be great, and a lot of weapons have been suggested in different threads. I don't know if we'll see crossbows. Even though they seem simple to us today, they were a huge technological and mechanical advancement over the bow, and it looks like everything so far is very low-tech in PoE.

I agree and feel that ranged characters, such as my Ranger, are limited to bows. Perhaps they should add as some suggest, Long Bow, Short Bow, and Crossbows. However I feel they should add some others. Here are some of my suggestions:

Shurikens or perhaps Kunai/4Point Stars/Throwing Stars - All of course the same just different levels of equipment. This could be a Dex/Int based ranged weapon giving the player slightly less damage but with either a Crit Chance % Bonus or Accuracy bonus for hitting.

Javalins / Spears - Thrown Strength based weapons - Gives marauders a potential to be ranged. Also can be used with shield and can be dual wielded.

Wands cover Int rather well but perhaps you could add in Orb type wands or crystal balls.

Int/Str - This one is a bit tougher to think of but I was thinking perhaps a bomb of some sort, or unstable potions. Different volatile levels and abilities that can be thrown and explode on contact with any surface.

For Dex/Str - this may sound kind of gay to some people, but I think something along the lines of a long whip similar to like Ivy from Soul Calibur. Where you could customize every level with more blades or cooler designs, etc. But it gives range yet still remains a strength based use which would be you swinging it around.

Anyone have some other ideas?
