[2.0] Mjolner life based Rainbownuke witch, !!Deathless 82 Core/Uber!!
Discharge is marked as fire, lightning, cold. Does this mean that any increases in critical strike chance to a certain element apply to the entire spell ?
e.g. Will "Critical chance with fire skills" increase the critical chance of the lightning component of discharge ? This may sound strange but if the game calculates only one crit chance for each spell/gem then the answer to the above would be yes. " Discharge is a lightning spell otherwise it couldn't be cast by Mjolnir proc. |

From the wiki
Fire, Cold, Lightning, Spell, AoE will see if the crit chance on discharge goes up with a cold skill multiplier jewel, and it does 12% gain with a 12% cold jewel Last edited by Fhark#5469 on Jan 17, 2016, 3:11:55 AM

I actually don't have any crit on my jewels. Just damage and speed. Right now I'm at 21440 tooltip with 4/5/3 charges. I was just exalting my jewels and looking at some new ones and wondered how crit chance works in a multi-elemental spell.
Also I noticed that I had lost about 1K armour. After half an hour of trying to figure out what I did wrong, I finally looked at the latest patch notes... Damn. From League Starter to Shaper – Cheap, Tanky, Fast and Fun Physical ST – Very Detailed Guide

" Not true. You want to have jewels with crit chance for spells or lightning skills, but not GLOBAL crit chance since you don't want molten strike to crit, but for discharge or arc, you actually want them to crit since discharge already use all your charges. So idealy you want jewels with life / attack speed / spell crit chance (or lightning skill crit chance) / crit multi or spell damage some looks like: |

Today I decided to try replacing lightning penetration to see if I can get better damage. I've already read the posts about IW being better so I started by doing the math.
I have 4/5/3 charges with 440 strength ( = 88% from IW) so I do a lot of fire damage. IW looks good then. I also get 244% spell and elemental damage from tree and jewels. With arc my damage is about 55% lightning 45% fire, with ball lighting it's 50%-50%. My calculations are slightly different from the ones posted a few pages before because I tried to take into account the 10% that quality lightning pen gives. The results are pretty much the same. In theory IW is always better than concentrated effect by about 5%. And lightning pen becomes better only after 65% total resists. I don't use elemental weakness (I prefer enfeeble) but since I believe monsters are capped at 75% there should be very few between 65-75% so IW should win in almost all cases. That's the theory, however as usual in practice things are different: 1. Tooltip damage with IW is 29171. With CE its 34265. Pretty large difference. I have no idea how it's calculated so I don't know why CE looks so much better. 2. As a test I did several runs of merciless Malachai (because there are no mods and he's always the same) with pen, IW and CE and I timed them. I found no difference. Averages were always around 98 sec. However it was obvious that CE was reducing his health faster than the other 2 spells. So that observation agrees with the tooltip and not with the math. So what's the conclusion ? In theory IW wins. In practice CE looks better. However for now I'll keep using IW. It's certainly better for general mapping and for bosses it has one advantage. It doesn't reduce the discharge area. This, I believe, is the reason why Malachai runs with CE took the same time. He moves unpredictably so with the smaller AoE sometimes you miss him. IW has a larger area with less damage (but more than lightning pen) so less chance to miss. I'm sure CE is better for Uber (and bosses that don't move much) because she moves predictably. For restless bosses IW is better. P.S. I even tried CE+IW. Great damage if you don't care about flask charges. " Going crit based is simply for surgeon flasks, otherwise RT has more damage. With legacy flasks, you don't need crit chance in tree to have perma-flasks, but with non-legacy one (I played in Talisman), it is never high enough... So I try to get attack speed/spell crit on jewels. Perhaps I will change jewels after talisman league when I get legacy flasks. |

Started doing the build, got the items and some gems, my stash is cleaned so need to know what to get/change/improve next...

" Hail KingOfEarth, Going from appearances... your current level and lack of jewels in gear or jewel slots on your tree indicates you may be better suited for the life/armour version rather than the EB/MOM. The jewels are crucial to maintain ES on the mana. The five spec points for the EB/MOM could be applied toward jewel slots until you are a higher level and have obtained the needed jewels. For example...

Until then I would review and concentrate on the life/armour version on page 1. I think your gear is shaping up, and it certainly would not hurt to upgrade the Mjolner for the legacy version ;). |

I finally did Core deathless and thought I'd post here. No video unfortunately because I didn't want to risk it lagging with my poopy computer :(

35% increased AoE and 4 additional projectiles was NOT fun during Malachai... But somehow I managed to facetank it. Only real scary part was the blood thingy on the ground covering the whole area dealing massive amounts of chaos damage. It's a game of just regenning faster than he can hit you in chaos damage. And of course to dodge that freaking smash in phase 1... Gear for those interested:
