Act 4 Normal Sucks and Is Way Too Hard
Having to get 1700+ HP in normal just to survive Malachai fight makes Act 1+2 cruel boring due to having crap damage and being invinsable

" Not to mention, only needing 500 HP to beat Dominus. You can beat Cruel Dominus with 1500 HP without a hiccup. Horrible balance. |

Act 4 defenitely feels overturned compared to the rest of the game, at least in normal mode.
1 Death on my LA Ranger at lvl 2 to bad ping up to early Act 4 The bosses have tons of life and hit really hard compared to the trash mobs in their areas. Here's my count of deaths: Daresso-1 Death, to YOLOing him when he was about to die and not caring about my life. Kaom-1 Death, same reason as above Piety-about 8 deaths, I get a bit of FPS lag and "woah"ed at the fast laser damage. But imo she's fine. Doedre-5 deaths, I just stopped caring about my counter and didn't use portals. Would be lower if I did care. Maligaro-Lost count, at least 10 deaths. I didn't try to portal to save my death counter, but the fight seemed like there's tons of unavoidable damage. Malachai-omg... At least 50 deaths. But in my defense my fps drops to like 10 during the fight. Overall- Imo Kaom, Daresso, and Doedre introduce actual boss mechanics and are examples of what they should be imo... Others I can't exactly say whether they are overtuned, altho they feel so. The bosses also have way too much life... Do you expect your players to get a 5 linked item in normal? Had 800 DPS on Puncture and the health of A4 bosses compared to the rest of the game doesn't feel right. Last edited by Skymence#1499 on Jul 12, 2015, 9:37:15 PM

" The problem is the same issue the game has had since Act 3.5. The difficulty curve is all out of whack. You have massive spikes of difficulty followed by long stretches of brainlessly easy content. The newer something is, the more dangerous. They can't seem to wrap their heads around it. "Danger is like jello, there's always room for more."

Haha, Malachai nerfs are already being rolled out. Good on the devs for acting quickly on this one; this really was over the top, especially for new players.
Here's hoping I don't RIP doing act 4 Cruel ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) |

" I was doing fine with no deaths until Piety Act 4 normal on warbands. The problem with this boss is simple. There are no possible tactics when you get thrown in a matchbox with a fking ticking bomb inside. The room is just to small to avoid instakill, I mean yes, you can always run in circles like an idiot trying to avoid getting caught given of course you run fast enough and you don't hit any of the 200 billion fireballs she left laying around. I was able to get her HP to 50% before dying for the 20th time and alt+F4ing out of frustration. Believe me, I was expecting a tough fight, but this is BS. |

I haven't experienced act 4 in cruel or merciless but I found it easy in normal. Died once in piety fight but that was player error (got hit with that thing that goes around and around that appears to bleed you out) b/c i was too stupid to stay ahead of it and thought i could tank it. NOT!
Censored.

Acct 4 is awesome best act yet. Difficulty seems fine as well on normal.

My favourite part was Piety sticked to the wall and then started her vertibird-humming death ray. She did FOUR FULL CIRCLES with that. How the hell am I supposed to survive that, ffs? Leap over? Path of Mario Bros, here we go.
Daresso is more or less bearable until he has ~30% hp left, then he started binking everywhere, doing enormously long reave attacks and/or 800+ hp hits. Did that with melee, was hard, did that with SRS and archer (full Acro, mind you), both got raped (esp SRS). Kaom (surprisingly) is fine atm, at least he's predictable. Organ dealers and Malachai himself was so op that it's kinda miracle I didn't rage quit. And guess what? They call it NORMAL. a1-3 death count: 0. a4: 75 (SEVENTY freakin' FIVE). |

I found post-nerf Malachi to be a very not-fun fight in Normal/SC. I appreciate the nerfs, but I don't think it would hurt to nerf farther: perhaps by removing one of the attack types in Normal.
I think one of issues here is that the game has very few skill-based fights. Most of the game is about finding a good build and gearing up. As a result, there is very little player training in the game for the skills needed for the A4 fights. The game doesn't really build up to them, it just sort of throws them at the player. If the player is skilled from other games, probably they'll be fine. If the player comes from a less-twitch/skill gaming background, then it can be a little much to ask them to suddenly develop the right skills if they haven't needed them at all until the end. A3 Dominus is a bit of a skill fight, and I feel struck a good balance for the final fight. Malachi is over the top for Normal, IMO. |
