[2.2 Video Guide] Beginner's Build: Dual Flame Totem, Blood Magic Chieftain [Atziri & HC/SC Viable]
" Looks exactly like the tree I posted a couple pages back. Changes to current tree would be replacing the 2 totem defense nodes you have with the offensive nodes. Your placing your totems at the very least every 4 seconds so defense isn't important on them. Pick up some critical multi/life/cast speed jewels and get more jewel nodes. Grab the 12 cast speed cluster when you can | |
Hi, just a quick question. Do you have any issues proccing HoT? I've rarely seen it proc, around lv 40. Should I link it whit ALD?
Cheers. Potato girl keeps on runnin'

" Rare ones! You can find ones with +25%+ total dmg + 7% life, or damage + cast speed + life, crit, etc. Up to you! Last edited by damelon#0632 on Jul 28, 2015, 3:30:14 PM

" Got an example? Just hit level 87 and got a jewel slot to get, not sure what to search for in a jewel tho. I guess I'd want crit, but I'm not sure at all. What do you use? |

" Whatever you can find at a good price really. I found one that is a Rare Viridian Jewel for 5c, which was a steal. 12% projectile damage 15% totem damage 7% maximum life I saw a couple more since then that were great deals but I was poor at the time. :( One that had 5 mods... damage, crit, life, burn damage, ignite chance i think. kicking myself for passing that one up. Jewels have so many ways of giving damage too for totems... spell damage, fire damage, totem damage, projectile damage, damage with shields, damage while dual wielding, etc. Not just cast speed either, but cast speed while holding a shield, blah blah. so you can't really just search for one thing. There is shitload of very good rare jewell combinations that is worth respecting the tree a little bit to grab all 2 point jewell nodes around (there are three if i see it right). Not just the obvious already mentioned, but also various combinations of:
increased cast speed/critical chance/critical multiplier with Fire Skills increased cast speed/fire spell dmg while holding the Shield etc. If paired with 6-7% increased life, its even worth to change for some single 5% nodes. |

" HoT is not supposed to proc. It is added in for the shock potential and the flat added damage =) Weekly build guides: Youtube.com/LiftingNerdBro

This is my first character in PoE so bear with me (and HUGE thanks to anyone who reads all this)... but is anyone else having much trouble with survivability with this build and gear? I'm at level 86 with 5063 hp, max resists, with 9195 armor and 855 ES. My DPS is not a problem as the totems cut though white mobs like a hot knife through butter. My offense isn't a problem. However whenever I'm up against a boss that's hitting me from offscreen with crazy AOE attacks (or a mob that's so fast I simply can't outrun it) and taking 75% of my HP in one hit, I feel like a glass cannon. If the boss decides to attack my totems I'm fine, but as soon as it decides to ignore the totems and my Flame Golem I get into really big trouble and die often. The reason this concerns me so much is because I'm level 86 and can only do magic level 74/75 maps (or level 72/73 maps if the maps are Rare). Because of this, leveling has become very very slow and tedious as the only alternative is doing higher level maps at a much higher chance of dying and losing 10% exp. I'm stuck!
My build was identical to the one in the OP up until a couple levels ago when I added some points to Max HP nodes per the suggestion of some folks playing Hardcore (I'm in Warbands): https://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAwMABAcEswagC2EOPBBYEMwRLRQgFHEZLho4Gj4fAiW8Jy8n7SkuKo0rtiycLKcyNDLRNZI22DpYOtg8LT38RKtFR0WdRtdJG0rIUEdTUlWuVcZXDVjlWfNaK15dXz9j_WSEZp5o8m6qcYVyD3hpeuZ8g3y4ggeCEIKbg1-DzIPbh2WMRozPj6aQVZo7muCiAKPyp5SsmK2Nr2yvt7Xytz7AZsMTxPbGrs9-0f3SIdWm2L3ZYdl820_fsN-_4MPhc-vu7DjsVe087w7wH_Fs8azyQfZI-JP5vf4K Gear: (ignore the decoy totem- I was just using that for a Vorici mission)
Spoiler
(Explanation of my gems: Enduring Cry doesn't work with CWDT anymore so the best alternative I've found so far is to link CWDT with Arctic Breath to slow/knockback mobs that hit me. This helps but it's nowhere near as strong as CWDT+EC (or so I've been told. Like I said I didn't play PoE until after that nerf happened.) Is there a point to having EC when you can't link it to CWDT?) I'm not trying to tank anything. I stay very mobile and use my Lightning Warp and Flamedash often, always keeping my totems between me and the mobs. But I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir when I say not all mobs decide to attack my totems instead of me, and whenever that happens against a boss or mini-boss it's R.I.P. I'm very very tempted to switch to some expensive 5- or 6-link Astral Plate for more defense. But reading through some of this thread gives me the impression most folks using Infernal Mantle and a similar build and gear only care about offense and have no problem with defense? How? Any help is greatly appreciated!!! |
