You get alot more crit chance from daggers and should be using them for a crit build.

With full chaos your totems wont insta kill themselves on ele reflect maps.

Hardly any monsters have chaos resists, the ones I notice are the dogs, but they still die in less than 3 seconds.


There´s an affix for rare mobs "resists Chaosdmg" which seem to occur pretty often. In addition to that Unique Bosses (like Atziri) got chaos res, which you are unable to penetrate. Iam not sure if following a pure +critmult +critchance weapon is better than the +22castspeed iam wearing, since i think castspeed is a really beneficial stat on totembuilds?

Well observed on cast speed. The big advantage of cast speed on totems is that it is a hugely efficient (no mana impact) and synergistic stat (cursing, EDIT not totem placement). I actually prefer the massive cast speed stacking you can get from dual wands versus daggers, in a crit totem build.

1. It's crit is global, so yes, although a crafted rare would be better.

2. Clear mind(60% Spell Dmg), and 3x 25% Fire dmg / 6-7% life Jewels.

3. I had celestial punishment becfore I went crit, you can't have both without sacrificing too much survivability. If your not playing HC, go ahead.

It is. A lot of the one key builds are pretty boring though. Cyclone, Ice Crash, Tornado Shot, Flame Totem. Play-wise, this game is not very complex though either, the theorycrafting is much more complicated than the actual gameplay.

Herald of Ash is for physical and Herald of Ice does less damage than Herald of Thunder.


I would also like to have it elaborated on why Herald of Thunder is a good idea. First, Herald of Ice seems to do more damage (53-70 vs. 19-76 on level 20). Second, Herald of Ice provides more utility, since it can actually freeze (right?) and proc.

Also, it seems to me like the damage of either Herald is too puny to justify the life reservation (at least on Hardcore).
Ok so I'm now level 85 and respecced into more crit but still very viable for HC.

I've got 5 230 Life, 979 ES & 6500 armour.

DPS/totem first 4 seconds = 15729 with the golem out, no heralds.
