What is your opinion about new globes?
I_NO; BMBI it's an honour to me that you are posting in my thread. I'm even more glad that you agree with me.
" Ok so if we are talking about "covered woman culture", many of them (I think 70-90% - numbers based on personal experience) thinks like: "I am here, so my culture has to be respected with despise of other's cultures" " They rly did? meh.. so now we know POE has enter into mainstream. (few days ago it was a forum thread with question "when will we know that poe went into mainstrem" (or smth like that)) Anywaypoe is still cool but if they remove grils just because of political correctness reasons is one of most stupid and retarded moves that devs could do. (I think I will get another probation for the last sentence due to mindless new forum rulez. (Cheers Ms. Bex)) EDIT: no sarcasm intended in "part. (Some could get this impression since cheers are close to "mindless" but it has nothing to do. Rly Bex cheers. :) ) Aye Aye Captain! Last edited by jeż#2362 on Jul 1, 2015, 3:05:39 PM

" Agreed. The chained ladies globes were fine. Either keep them, or make an option where players can choose their preferred UI. |

Globe girls or rito!
Srsly tho, at least give us the chance to switch in options... |
|
The new ones looks so cluttered, the thick edge and the skulls and lions head are too blobby. The engravings on said heads also make them look darker, which I also don't like, it doesn't fit into the UI setting. The old ladies had a strong sense of symbolism, while the new ones still has that, it is not quite the same. Females have throughout the ages been a symbol of life, thus if you have to have a motive beside the health globe a female is quite fitting, and it is quite literaly embracing or clinging on to life much like we go to great lengths to keep our life above 0. But why is it chained? It is bound by the shackles of life or any other of the symbolism chains have. The lady on the mana globe seems beaten and exhausted, just like how our mana as resource is constantly treated the same way. It also has a longing in it, to be free from it, just as we want to be free from the mana. So from a symbolic perspective the old ones are really good. But I guess they felt like the concept of ladies in the UI was old, so they changed it. But I would really like to have an option to get them back, be it through microtransactions or elsewise.

Never would have noticed if not for forum threads. Don't care about the change itself, though if this is strictly about catering to the overly-sensitive "politically correct" crowd I'm a bit disappointed on principle.

I could be wrong, but judging from last time, it is more of a desire to create a new "UI Theme" for major releases and not a "politically correctness fix." Forsaken Masters they tried, got backlash. Awakening, they still have that desire, so they are trying again. Kudos for keeping on trying to move forward with ideas, though I might suggest as you create new skins that the old ones are available. Mostly because I would consider using them to theme different characters. That would be awesome, UI theme as a character preference....and default to whatever the current release UI is.

" Well said, this is my point and eloquently put. |
|
" I think you are reading too much into the ladies' symbolism. Maybe a developer could give us some insight about the reasons for this change, and the symbolism (and other motivations for these choices too, of course) they had in mind when doing the globe designs (ladies, lads, and lion+skull)? |
|
guys.. guys..nobody liked the old dudes when they tried to change, but these new ones is cool.

" Last time I was in a developer team, the more expirienced members ha A LOT of these ideas of symbolism and they were constantly using them. But it is all in the eyes of the beholder. The reason for the change is most likely to be "Politicaly Correct" you can't really have SJWs/Neo Feminists/Whatever-You-Want-To-Call-Them running around complaining. They can cause alot of negative publicity. |
