[outdated] Caustic Arrow Solo Map MFer (20/300+)

Spoiler
Oh it definitely is. They needed something they could whip together quickly so they could focus on preparing for the beta halfway through 2.6.
That said, we're apparently getting more balance changes than we probably would have anticipated, so there's a different kind of work going on. While the league itself is basically a throwaway, other changes to the core balance are being made. In the Q&A with Ziggy, Chris said one of the reasons they're comfortable doing this with a content update rather than a big expansion is because of the timeline: between 2.6 launch, 3.0 beta and 3.0 launch, that gives them three iterations to fuck around with balance and get at least certain aspects nailed down by 3.0, where more changes are going to be coming. My 2c about League Stones
I agree that this is just a really simple league to carry us through to the beta and 3.0, but I can see it being kept in the future... they even suggested as much in the Breach Manifesto:
" I think League Stones would be a nice companion and counterpoint to Zana Mods. In many ways, base League Stones are a Zana Mod spread out across 3 maps, without the other benefits of Zana Mods (IIQ, increased rare/magic packs, etc). Leagues like Beyond seem to be the most directly comparable... and if the mechanic carries over, relics will presumably be out, stones will be rarer, etc... just like every other feature that's made it into the game... Also, I don't think they create mechanics without at least being open to the possibility of implementing them permanently down the line... once they see it in action in the league... I learned my lesson thinking otherwise with Breaches and what they mean for the lore in my head... and I know Perandus wasn't kept because of its massive effect on the economy... Talisman / Warbands / Tempest... these leagues weren't kept, but all the bosses were rolled into maps in 2.4 I also remember a year or so ago in a podcast Chris Wilson commenting on player dreams of being able to buy league MTX to play leagues with whatever combination of league mods they wanted at will... this seems like a great implementation of that that could be quite popular... here's hoping... 2.6 reply
That quote from Qarl is referencing specifically Breach. It's not alluding to League Stones going core, but rather what will happen to Breach boss spawn chances, regardless of how they implement it.
So, while it's extremely unlikely for League Stones to go core, you do bring up a good point: it'd be an interesting way of implementing custom, purchaseable leagues, undoubtedly with some modifications. Jul 27, 2011 - Sept 30, 2018. Last edited by Serleth#4392 on Feb 19, 2017, 3:13:44 PM

It is like the flashback event, but the difference between them is that you get to use a currency that is like a map and control the instance or map that you want to play in. Flashback events gave you no choice but to deal with it. That is something that will never work well in the core game since it is not something you can actually implement full time.
It might not actually render Zana's mods pointless since you can stack for example beyond stone on top of beyond mod from Zana and the map mod itself, so triple beyond (lol). This league will empowers those even more that uses Zana's mods already and gives more option to those that do not like to use Zana's mod because of currency sink (I fit in this group). If there are enough demands and the league actually gets really good retention rate, I think GGG will cave in. I mean, it will be another thing to look forward too in 3.0. Sometimes you can take the game out of the garage but you can't take the garage out of the game. - raics, 06.08.2016 Last edited by JohnNamikaze#6516 on Feb 19, 2017, 4:48:39 PM

Triple beyond did not work in the past flashback events (The flashback and Zana mod are the same thing and do not stack), so I don't think they will stack in 2.6 either. While we do not know exactly how it will work/is worded, I'm not holding my breath for it.
I generally like flashback events, and this one with the added bonus of being able to drop the league items is a nice simple challenge league I can get behind. I will be running more MF in 2.6. However, I wonder if there will be any changes to the tree or scaling for the CA skill/supports |

Well, if triple beyond does not work then double beyond + breach + sextants would yield interesting results. I seen plenty of Pohx's streams doing double beyond + sextants in breach and those map would get insane with the amount of mobs popping up from breach and beyond combined. Perandus would be the next choice before or after the breach legacy stone.
I am just hoping these stones make it to core game since this is something I want more compare to breach coming to the core game. Sometimes you can take the game out of the garage but you can't take the garage out of the game.

Completely agree. I half expect Breach was GGG's way of giving us as close to 3xBeyond as we are going to get. Especially, as you pointed out, the ability to have sextants and other modifiers effecting a map.
It would be kinda neat if League Stones became a Perm league only feature. Have the challenge leagues focus on the new league mechanic, and allow the perm leagues to leisurely experience some of the older content as an optional feature. (Not something I expect to happen, but interesting to think about all the same). |

@Serleth
I understand that Qarl is talking about Breaches, but the feature he references seems to be how League Stones can roll with guaranteed Breachlords. If Zana guaranteed Breachlords in every Breach, that seems excessive... I could be interpreting Qarl wrong, though, about the potential for Leaguestones to go Core...
@JohnNamikaze
I think Leaguestones will replace Zana Mods like Nemesis that are used primarily to chance Headhunters, but not Zana mods that are used to gain extra loot and xp...
A great map in my head would be Breach, Beyond, Perandus, map with Beyond monsters on it and Bloodlines from Zana... that seems like it stacks the most ways to increase monster density before adding Sextants, plus Zana's extra 25% magic monsters (maybe +25% magic monsters on map already)
@Chronoexile
Chronoexile seems right about Triple Beyond... Zana just adds the word Beyond to the zone, the same way Flashback and Leaguestones do... a league can only be active once... map mods stack because they give the same functionality without using the league modifier in the same way... Zana makes a map a Beyond Map, while a rolled map causes Beyond monsters to spawn on trigger, which is additive...
On Standard-only: Or just let everyone have it :D... Standard gets to experience old leagues and so do temp leagues...
Closing Thoughts
In typing my last answer to Chrono, I realized that in order to implement Leaguestones, GGG might decide to limit them in the same way they started limiting Zana in 2.2 or so...
Only have 8 different leaguestones available per temp league... the same 8 as Zana... or they could have no overlap and only league mods unavailable from Zana available as leaguestones... they could go several ways with it... I believe the idea at the time was that Zana was getting bloated and some mods were too expensive to see much use... |

Just wanted to say thanks for the great build and guide serleth! Feel like I've picked the right build to use after being away from POE for quite some time. The pacing and play style of the build was just right. Cheers!
