Incident Report for Item Loss Bug

Except that it is. People lost acuities, mirrors, legacy shavs. All the whiteknights have taken to calling these things 'mere pixels', but these 'mere pixels' are the heart of the game. If you don't understand the extreme time and effort involved in obtaining those items means something, then there's nothing to discuss.

And even ignoring the people claiming ostensibly unprovable 'loss', GGG is refusing to restore items with missing mods out of some twisted sense of 'fairness'. If that's not a slap in the face, I don't know what is.

Maybe a slap in the face is not the worst thing for someone who puts extreme time and effort into getting pixels.

Maybe you haven't noticed what game you're playing.
I'm glad I'm not affected, but I'm very dissapointed that people didn't get their stuff back. I understand that it might be difficult, but if "only" 300 items are affected, I think they could go through that manually.

The whole incident is very unfortunate, but no compensation at all is probably not the best decision. Some people will probably quit instantly (imagining losing a GG armor with all your gems) and a lot of people (a lot more than the ones who actually lost stuff) will be pissed at GGG and not supporting anytime soon. So if anything this is very bad PR and will cost them quite a few $.

So asinine.
This is a game, and if you take away the tools the game requires to play then it impacts the game.
Sitting there while you also playing the game then coming out with that statement is just plain and simple stupid.

I know, why don't I take the ball away from some footballers, its only plastic, not even real leather Totally not needed for the game.

Some people.

I shouldn't, but I have to also express my dissatisfaction at how item losses (which are not the player's faults) are handled by GGG as a company.

"You played every day for almost a year and saved up every bit of currency you made to afford that 6L Shavs? Well it's going to disappear, but sorry, we will not give it back. But wait, you don't get your currency back either." Read that and tell me how this item loss bug has been handled is the correct route.

Back in the 1 Month Bloodlines/Torment Event I chanced a Cloak of Defiance while partying with a public group. Picked it up off the ground, got the achievement, linked it and said "Holy shit just chanced this," not 20 seconds later everyone in my group disconnected, I logged back in, no Cloak of Defiance in my inventory.

Still had the achievement though, but I suppose when you get the achievement "Left to chance" it does not log which item base the chance orb was used on.

Was pretty pissed to be honest, can only imagine what people who lost mirrors/acuity's/Shavs are feeling.

Easy: you're assuming they have the capability. They have stated they do not. So either you have no reading comprehension, or you assume GGG is lying.

Do you think this is a server resource issue? I would think that item tracking would also help them shut down RMT facilitators, as well as allow GGG to replace items they deemed to be caused by bugs and not player abuse.

We are extremely sorry that this problem occurred. It is unacceptable for players to lose items on the live servers and we deeply regret not being able to resolve it to everyone's satisfaction.

Have steps been taken (or are going to be taken) to be able to adress this issue should a similar thing happen in the future? I sure hope so...

So we turned Gorge into a red map"

Well, if someone has never gotten a character into the true endgame, I guess I could see why everything would seem trivial to them. It's all just pixels! Just buy another one from Tarkleigh man.
Chris posted the end of 2013 the following message: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/733852

It states that 3.7 million people have signed up for Path of Exile. Let's take that as a start nd say that they are all newbs and stop playing at Lioneye's watch, having accumulated a tiny amount of 10 items that dropped on the twilight strand. (for the sake of simplicity)

That's makes a whopping amount of 37 million items.

Less than 300 items were affected in total as Chris suggested. That makes a probability of ~ 1:120000 that a particular item would be affected (if everything was kept in memory all the time).

Now keep in mind, that there are a lot of active players, accumulating masses of item in dozens of stash tabs. That further reduces the likelihood that a particular item is affected.

Based on this I com to the conclusion that it is highly unlikely that a Mirror actually disappeared due to this bug.

PS: I actually saw a Shav-Lost-Chaos-Mod item linked in another thread [1] and I think it's awesome. Might be one of the most unique items ever out there. Just sell it for tons of money to a collector and buy a new legacy shavs for a fraction of the money that you got ;)

That's 'cus as far as I'm aware, this only affected supporters of the new pack.

People paid to lose items, that's how I feel.

as far as I can tell.. I have not lost any items or had any important items or
mtx ruined.. I am quite happy for this.
for I honestly feel that if I had lost a truly expensive item in this debacle,
I would not be playing poe any more.

if they cannot do anything about it, then they cannot do anything about it,
but they will definitely be losing players / future support from a situation like this..
it leaves a bad taste in my mouth just reading this..
the fact that no notification was given warning us about this bug..
if something might randomly ruin / delete 1 or more of my items, I would like to
know about it so I can choose to not log in until you fix the situation.

It takes insane amount of time to grind for certain items in this game..
Having things randomly ruined / deleted with no warning is completely unacceptable.

p.s. while it is true that legacy shavs is extremely collectible now,
it is still a shit chest. its a 500 es chest now without the mod that makes
shavronne wrappings good..
its possible someone will pay something for it, but I highly doubt anyone is paying
what that chest would be worth normally. its no longer good. "collectible" and "ruined".
do what you want to the girl, but leave me alone.
