Update on Deterministic Lockstep
Nice
Im european, when i play in european gateway i want Deterministic Lockstep, but, when i play in singapore gateway, i want Client Predictive. It would be great if you could switch from one to another. Possible? Thanks and nice job! |

First: Thanks to Chris and the GGG team for seemingly really taking a genuine interest in bettering the experience of their customers!
To the point: How about a map that shows the specific geographic locations of all the currently active servers? Or, alternatively, does this necessarily matter? Does ISP and internet connection speed for each individual user make a substantial difference, or is it all about physical distance from an active server? I would appreciate some insight on these issues. Thanks! IGN: NinetySixBottlesOfBeer

" It would certainly be POSSIBLE. Probably not especially likely though since they'll want to see how that affects all of their other stats. I just hope the same patch also fixes the quest rewards as well, though that might be asking a bit much... |

" Physical distance will certainly make some difference, but probably not nearly as much as how many separate "hops" the packet has to make before reaching the server(of course, this is also somewhat correlated with distance). |

" Your internet speed has no impact on what ur latency to the Path of exile server is. You can have 100 kb/sec and 5 latency, in the end ur latency depends on ur ISP and how close ur ISP servers are to get that good latency. If you got the possibility to choose from different ISP's some of them can get you a slight improvement on latency aslong as the ISP provider routes the internet for you better.. Something like that probably someone else can explain it better.. Latency towards online games has nothing to do with download speed, that i'm 100% on. For example I can download at 2MB/sec, my MS to my ISP server is 26 MS. Last edited by prilletime#6602 on May 7, 2015, 9:10:55 PM

What is considered low latency though? Is it 10ms? 15ms? 20ms?
I don't know where the servers are hosted, but based on latency I assume in Germany or near. I live in the opposite side of Europe, and because of that I have a constant 55ms ping. Will I still be able to use this new mode? I'm in an abusive relationship with life. It keeps beating the hell out of me and I'm too cowardly to leave it.

If u read the post... You should benefit from the lockstep system aslong as ur under 100 latency...
This is not a FPS game it's an ARPG and you wont need to have 5 latency to go pro.. 55 will be just fine and thats around my latency and im pretty sure it will be smooth. However I would still reccomend you to use a wired connection instead of Wifi.. Not 100% sure on that but WIFI always sucks for gaming. Last edited by prilletime#6602 on May 7, 2015, 9:10:02 PM

Great work, Chris! Looking forward to test this out in beta!
