theres absolutely no point in speccing shock or duration on arc, even non crit. Take out innervate and increased duration and nothing would really change about the spec you describe. Stick in lightning pen and empower and youll probably be doing twice as much actual damage, shocking everything and killing them before ths shock wears off.


Best way to scale shock chance on arc is cast speed or crit chance, best way to scale duration is spell damage or crit multi atm, if they change this it will be a nerf to spells and the rsult wont be that u use shockchance and duration gems rather than cast speed/crit/gemlevel/penitration gems, youll just keep using those other things and live with the nerf.

This gem is op as fac..ts.

In a particular build i think of,this 50% damage increase would be absolute kill

Definitely going to be running Arc-Lightning Penetration-Innervate-Added Lightning-Empower in a 5L Agnerod <cardinal direction> With spell and mana leech jewels. Absolutely stoked for it.

So, onslaught gives +20% attack speed, cast speed, and move speed (often for around 2 seconds, in this case, 3 seconds). We can write off chance to shock as a generally useless affix.
So, what's the movement speed worth? Well, a white speed flask gives 40% move speed for 5 seconds, the maximum amount we've yet to see onslaught last for, or nearly double the duration of this onslaught. And, between mobs, you probably would have gained the charges back. I don't see this part as being worth a gem slot, even with consideration for the other bonuses.
Let's say you're casting a spell, well, that increased cast speed is kinda...meh. What's 20% Increase compared to the typical 385% or so cast speed with spell echo? And only between kills? This is comparable to Faster Casting, though, which some casters already use...at level 1...and only functions if you kill a monster AND it's shocked.
Attack speed: it has potential, as I've not seen quite so high attack speed on builds that really wanted it, but for a gem that gives attack speed, you could use Faster Attacks which gives +25% at first level.

Quite underwhelming.

I can't see why I'd use this on any lightning setup. There's other gems that would be far more valuable from a DPS stand point.

Suppose it's another niche gem. Oh well.

It is a great new gem. I'm hoping for a cold version too, but that one I could use as well.

Which effect would this suport gem have with Spell Totem?

Spell Totem + Arc + Light pen + cast speed + Inervate ((6)+ add Lightning) ?
