Another guess.
There are 7 or eight series of cards. one of them is Elreon one: the Archdemon. (Or the Harvest) You have to do 12 quests for him and at the end you get to fight The archdemon and win your unique. (Or you fight the archdemon at the tenth quest and get at the end the harvest) There 7-8 more series of divine cards like these. He knew it: http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1242499

Dunno if it has been posted in the thread yet, but the harvest is one of the new leaked zones in act 4 (not in beta)

Apparently Cards can affect farming for specific uniques. So I have read a bit on reddit anyways.

Another thing, chris said its not a TCG.
So couldnt it be a CCG? I doubt it would be anyway, not seeing them hyping simple collectibles. they must have some use. Oblivious

I wonder how it will link in with the higher tier supporters packs.
Would it be a case of pick a unique and flavor text for a card set and GGG will set the number of cards? hopefuly it'll be tomorrows announcment Ancestral Bond. It's a thing that does stuff. -Vipermagi

" It has been confirmed that this preports to the "harvest" unique, and that the cards are meant to be a means of more deterministically farming specific items. How this is yet to be implemented, we don't rightly know. "If you’re incompetent, you can’t know you’re incompetent.
