Are certain accounts more likely than others to get in? I've played PoE for 3000 hours.

All accounts have an equal chance of being selected. It's important that we get a mix of new players and veterans. Their feedback and data is equally useful.

When the countdown hits zero, the Closed Beta servers will become live. The Beta Invite Timer will then start selecting users at the rate of one per five minutes. As soon as we can, we'll invite Alpha testers and certain Streamers to the Beta to join the members of the public who are selected.

We've also given Closed Beta access to the 260 Diamond supporters that generously contributed $1000 back during Path of Exile's Closed Beta.

Our plan for scaling up Beta access for existing users has two prongs.

We will give Closed Beta access to top-tier supporters from previous sets of Supporter Packs:
Diamond Supporters (Closed Beta) were granted access today
Ruler/Eternal Supporters (Open Beta) will be granted access tomorrow
Conqueror Supporters (Release) will be granted access the next day
Grandmaster Supporters (Forsaken Masters) will be granted access the day after

We'll also be running some events in-game over the next few weeks that award keys. Tomorrow's news post is about a solo (trading disabled) five-day event that we'll be running starting on the weekend.

They did say that there would be more ways for people to get into beta as the time goes on.

As for beta being p2w.. If you say that it's p2w that people that bought the highest tier supporter pack has an advantage in getting to be in closed beta,well you could say that poe is pay2win because people who pay get better effects on their weapons and thus have an advantage.


Contrary to popular belief ggg does run on money. What they wanted to achieve with not making the game p2w is that paying doesn't affect the gameplay. And it doesn't. I guess the only gameplay advantage is stash tabs but other than this it doesn't affect the game at all. But there will be people that will debate that weapon effects are part of the game(play) and thus the game is p2w.

In this case the game is still free and not p2w. It's just that people who contributed the most (when it comes to money which without it the game wouldn't be here, let alone act 4) are given an advantage. Is that really that bad? It's not like it's impossible to get into bet if you were not a top tier supporter anyway.

GGG is not a non profit organization and their purpose is not to bring fairness to society. If you are that concerned about it, try to contribute to society by other more meaningful ways that complaining in a game forum that the company is not fair and it doesn't promote freedom. And despite them trying to make profit they didn't abuse us. You know they could announce that the previous week saying, whoever gets the grandmaster pack gets to be in beta automatically.


Having said that I feel a little jealous, but feeling jealous doesn't mean that what ggg did is wrong!

HA 5$ bet someone ends up in the ICU in the self found race, going for 5 days with no sleep and forgets to drink or eat. :P Looking forward to it, I am no good at races but never done a self found 5 day before. Just to remind folks, drink fluids. :P

Well I for one would be a top tier supporter if I was rich enough to drop that kind of money on a video game lol..hell I'd donate several grand to ggg if I could haha
