I don't miss the joy of helping manage or maintain a bazoogle of mule characters for guild stashing purposes, especially when it came to "renewing" those characters every 90 days without getting a temporary ban for logging in and out and in too fast.

GGG did a very smart thing with the stash tabs. They would have had mule accounts by the hundreds of thousands or more, if they hadn't allowed this pay for convenience factor.

I'm okay with the paying system of this game. I'm not a supporter and I've only payed once (because I can't more) for 3 stash tabs. :) You dont't have to pay to play this game, and you can't get ingame perks for paying. For example, the stash tab upgrade is a "nice-to-have" not a "must-have" thing. You can create more characters and accounts, it's totally legal. Hovewer it's pretty annoying. :D I dont't like to have stash-characters. During 2013, I've deleted some 70+ characters, since I don't have enough character slots and I like to leveling up. :D

I'm just sitting here, and waiting for my beta key which will never arrive. :)

Seems we all agree that muling through multiple accounts and dozens of characters is legit and free, but very annoying.
So GGG gives you the options to purchase additional stash tabs and/or additional single account character slots.
"pay to convenience" is an interesting phrase.

So how is "pay to convenience" any different than pay to win? You accomplish the same tasks/goals faster, easier and more efficiently. Like buying better gear to kill monsters faster, easier and more efficiently...

But my point was; buying a supporter pack does not give you any form of in-game advantage. Nor does it give you the promise of a future in-game advantage. You do get nice looking gear and some personal recognition from GGG for your very valuable support.

As GGG has stated often enough, the new content is unfinished and unpolished. The new content will be changing - a little or a lot - depending on beta tester feedback. So in reality, the events and tactics beta testers learn now may not actually be in the finished content!

You're sad because streamers are streaming beta content?
It's great marketing for GGG, sure. But it's also a way for viewers to see the new content and spot flaws that the streamer may miss during game play. Hopefully, lots of viewers provide feedback too. Win for GGG, Win for all of us.

You're sad because Supporter Pack guys get to beta test?
They were pissed too on the first day. They didn't know they would get any kind of special treatment. But GGG does notice those who contribute to the game and like the streamers mentioned above, Supporter pack people have helped make the entire PoE experience better for all of us.

You're sad because you have 1000's of hours of game time but no beta invite?
GGG stated clearly that beta testing at this stage was going to be limited and they wanted new players mixed with experienced players. If you scroll through the beta key winner list, there are vastly more "old" accounts getting in than new accounts. You're just not lucky today.

You're pissed because cheaters are getting beta keys?
I am too. I have faith that GGG is doing what they can to knock out "shill" accounts, and it kind of sucks that GGG has to waste time and energy hunting down cheaters instead of full devotion to cranking out great new content. But that's the reality and it's OK to cut GGG some slack when cheaters get past the post. Rant about it, but vent your rage at the cheater, not GGG.

The only logical reason there is so much QQ going on is because of pure, simple jealousy. Out of the thousands of avid PoE fans, only a tiny fraction will get to beta test. You might get lucky and all your QQ just leaves a stain of bitterness for others not as lucky as you. And if you don't get to beta test, you get to hang out with the vast majority of PoE fans... waiting for Awakening day.

We will give Closed Beta access to top-tier supporters from previous sets of Supporter Packs:

Diamond Supporters (Closed Beta) were granted access today
Ruler/Eternal Supporters (Open Beta) will be granted access tomorrow
Conqueror Supporters (Release) will be granted access the next day
Grandmaster Supporters (Forsaken Masters) will be granted access the day after

This politics is f***** up and a real shame Chris Wilson!

I've spent more than 500 $ in sum for MTX since launch, what's the point in granting supporters access to CB?

Streamers are fine but don't piss off the other 99% who haven't spent hundreds of $$$ because it's unfair as f***!

well boys and girls, still here ?
heres a little story coming to my mind,
hearing all that crying and complaining about that supporter advantage 8 )

when my grandma got older and older she needed more and more help with everything.
it would not have been a big deal if everyone in the family just did a little,
but my cousins and my brothers and sisters had more important things to do ...

somehow they forgot what our grandma did for all of us.
for those of you that didnt know my grandma,
she really was the best guy in the world, using her whole life just for the family.
it really felt like she was there 24 h a day, whenever anyone needed help ,
she didnt hesitate, didnt think a second what she wants for herself.
she cooked, cleaned, washed, sang, learned, played, repaired ...
literally did everything she could for us !

now she couldnt anymore, she never asked for anything,
but it was obvious that now she needed our help.
i didnt even think about if i could or should or want to do that.
i felt blessed to have the chance to give her back a little love,
it was a pleasure to be there for her now.

whenever i found the time i went to see her,
helping with little things in the beginning, going shopping, cooking, cleaning for her,
or just sit there with her listening to one of her lovely stories.
it made us both very happy !

at the end she died when she was 87,
i never cried like that, was she the most important and loveable person in my life so far.
but i was happy aswell, i took the chance to give her some of the love back she gave to us.
that alone made me feel fine, not the house or the money she left me with in her last will.
i never knew there was money at all, i did what i did just to please her and myself !

as you can imagine there was a huge crying and complaining coming from my cousins,
brothers & sisters, saying i manipulatet her and did that all for the money .
they had been selfish enough to not even visit her once a month,
her last days passed, their chance was gone, what a shame !

if she had told them to come because otherwise they wouldnt get anything,
sure they would have !
would that have felt good for grandma ?
somehow paying her own family for giving her some love ?


okay, now i have an advantage. is that unfair ? p2w ?

edit: he basically said, someone who paid 20$ for playing 2 years has basically contributed the same towards the game as someone who paid 20$/month

you obviously haven't got the basic understanding of how a "free tp play" bussiness runs.

for example there are restaurants where you eat and afterwards pay what you think the meal is worth (basically "free to eat"). the business model is based on the fact that some guests pay more because they like the meal and the attitude and so compensate the guests paying nothing or less.

the restaurant is out of business if they run out of guests who overpay and if they fail to have a large base of customers who pay the regular price.

you probably know the prices for usual games with a monthly fee and how much you would have payed playing world of warcraft for example for two years.

with 20$ you payed much less and so you obviously don't like the game. i'm not wondering that ggg is not letting you test exclusive new content when you obviously don't like it.
