What happens when Closed Beta starts tomorrow?

Starting to wonder if it really was such a good idea to keep two permanent leagues. I'm guessing this expansion will bring forth yet another wave of legacy items from master crafted stuff to uniques to item mods.

I guess what I'm asking here is: Do you really think such profound changes were necessary? The shotgunning, is the main one. I was just finishing up my Shatter Chuck... /nerdhurt

You don't like "OP" builds, and honestly the main reason I play PoE is because these builds are attainable (at a massive cost) and their potential is so great. Low-life glass cannons FTW. I like having a +200-250 ex build wreck things in a matter of seconds. What I don't like is spending that much money for the build to become mediocre the next patch. I'm not making my judgement yet, I hope it's not as bad as it seems on first sight. For people playing temp leagues this hardly makes a difference but for standard players it's a huge one.

Imo those changes are necessary.

GGG tries to balance the game. They do a massive nerf to CoC because it is way too strong.
Resulting in a nerf for casters too. Thats not a bad idea at all, because they want players to make melee builds (for me CoC isn´t a "real" melee build at all).

In Hc it was just too risky to make a melee build, but now i´ll give it a try.
Realy looking forward to the upcoming new Contant! :-)
YAY ^.^
I welcome this projectile change.
Does this mean all my investment to EB gear is useless now?
Pisses me off how much you change the game and render my efforts useless in regular basis.

Incinerate is crap without shotgun then you can just use any spell with the same result.

This is probably the best possible comment.
Remove OP-mechanics and just use any skill you like (with similar effectiveness)? Yeah, why not?

To all who complain about killed characters: We don't know shit about the new balance, we get new skills and a full passive respec!
Safe your tears for real-world-problems.

From what I gather from these changes ALONE (i.e. I may be completely wrong with the announcement of new things) is that they are turning the meta upside-down. The permanent league players are taking the largest hit, and I hear that majority of the community plays permanent leagues...

I'm sure there's something up their sleeve that GGG aren't revealing yet and balancing soon to come but these changes better be worth the damage they are (likely/currently) causing.
I really don't get all the QQ, do people really don't get what beta testing is and how it works? You usually start with drastic changes to make the effects more pronounced and then adjust them over time to get a good balance.

It is a surprise them even doing a beta, most companies nowadays would just drop something half finished and then arbitrarily patch it later.

I am excited to see how all this turns out, there will certainly be some huge differences between the start of beta and the final 2.0. Just go watch some closed beta footage from January 2013 and compare it to release and the current patch.

Also, the game really is balanced around the temp leagues, not the legacy ones, so I don't really feel the pain for those thousands of exalts spent... Even if your 280,000 DPS is cut in half (which is not likely to happen) you'll still have chars that pummel through 99,5% of content effortlessly, and a free skill reset to play with - optimize or reinvent, still plenty of fun.
