unique items *no longer updated*
all this discussion over high level uniques ignores the fact that it is highly likely no one will ever get to use a high level unique anyway. Seems like a lot of complaining about nothing.

is it just me or does someone have something against unique belts

I think the reason why people want high level uniques is mostly because they are frustrated about other people having lioneyes, kaoms etc. and want their own OP shit?

" This. I can level a character to maps in a couple days, and as much as I like experimenting, I'm no altaholic. Believe it or not, almost nobody needs a new low-level bow. They're going to be using Silverbranch or Quill Rain or Death's Harp. And while a bow that only does lightning damage is a really cool concept, here's the thing - nobody will be able to explore that concept, because by the time you reach the level where most builds would start to expand themselves, you can usually roll a higher lightning damage mod on your bow, or equip Wake of Destruction. Had this been a unique around level 25 or 30, it could be an extension of the bow twinking (silverbranch starts losing potency around there). Or around level 60, it would be really cool for archers running static blows with chain. But it's not. It's right in a spot where it's just not worth bothering. It's like making a unique mace around level 35 - yeah, that's nice, but unless it's better than Geofri's, who's going to care? Or, more reasonably, it's like Aurumvorax: yeah, nice - now why would I ever use it over Shiversting in its level grouping? Luna's Blackguards - a guild of bronies - is now recruiting! If you're a fan of our favourite chromatic marshmallow equines, hit me up with an add or whisper, and I'll invite you!

" or that they want variety? |

It's obvious whoever dev that's making the uniques has a thing for bows, i remember when there was like 6 unique items, and everytime there was a patch that added uniques it had a new bow. I think at some point it felt like half of the unique items were in fact bows.
Seriously, out of all the things you could potentially make stop making more bows. Since the beginning of time, man has yearned to destroy the sun.

" Yeah and why is this the case? Because there simply is no real 'lategame' content yet. 3-4 uniques and maps wich have the same random monsters and droprates is nothing I call lategame. Thats why so many people do new chars and races! The lategame is the most important part of an Hack & Slay. Nobody cares about low lvl content, everybody wants to rush as fast as possible to lategeme, skipping most content as possible... but if there is no endgamecontent everybody is playing new chars and races for a while and quit playing pretty fast... (as seen in D3) And I really dont agree with that "rares have to be better than uniques" statement: 1. There are way too less (useful) affixes and suffixes to make rares really "unique". Thats why rares are the items who kill diversity not uniques!!!. You simply need %phys dmg, %physdmg+accuracy, flat phys dmg and IAS on your weapon. The other 2 stats dont matter at all. => Everybody wears or wants the same rare items (e.g. Life, %armour, flat armour, double resist) 2. Diablo 2 was so popular because of so many good and expensive high end uniques, runewords and sets. Diablo 3 was such a flop because they did the same strategy like you in PoE (crap uniques -> everyone needs the same rares) 3. Just have a look in the market. I cannot even sell one of my "The magnate" belts and this is one of the better uniques, you actually can wear in lategame... => the current unique system doesnt work at all. You cannot wear or sell 98% of all uniques... And in addition to that, these low lvl uniques designed for the "most played" low lvl content are insanely OP in low lvls^^ Last edited by azraelb#0313 on Apr 29, 2013, 10:55:00 AM

" Stormcloud is without a doubt made by Laz (who is only marginally part of GGG), and he has made no Bows prior to Stormcloud, tmk. Additionally, two Bows were made by Diamond Supporters; Chin Sol and Infractem. This leaves 4 Bows to GGG devs specifically, which isn't that crazy. Far as I can tell, they made more Shields and more Amulets than that, and an equal amount of Belts. *shrug* (Al Dhih also exists in Median XL as an Assassin Claw weapon, btw) Last edited by Vipermagi#0984 on Apr 29, 2013, 11:00:39 AM
