I feel I should also point out another part of the design from Davros. The Prismatic base type did not exist when he put forward his idea. It was suggested by him, and we put in the Prismatic Ring base type in, a few months ago as the first part of putting the unique item in.

Idk, if you increased the amount of Life and Mana per hit, so that it would essentially allow you to actually run a 4-6L without LGoH, then I can see the loss of the second ring slot justified.

The current values only strengthen the amount we're already accustomed to running, they do not replace their need (and thus freeing up a support slot)


I'm sure someone will find a way to use this ring + a couple other mana on hit items to do a workaround where blood magic *nor* a bunch of max mana / mana regen nodes are necessary, but at what cost? The loss of some other highly desirable stats on items for sure.

The drawbacks have two functions.

Firstly, they add personality to an item. Like people, these items are double-edged swords. You have to think before just equipping them. I'd rather create a more interesting item than one that every Tom, Dick and Harry would want to wear thoughtlessly. That sort of cheapness and superficiality is not worth $1000 in my eyes.

Secondly, they allow for more easy balancing/overpowering. Thief's Torment, for example, is a trap of sorts. You read all those bonuses and only at the end do you get the sucker punch. I can definitely see uses for that ring, but obviously you'd have to build for it. I'm not entirely sure it pulls the weight of two rings, but it definitely has some interesting offerings.



I see it quite the opposite. I think contributing $1,000 earns one the privilege of making a slightly OP item with zero drawbacks. Leave the other kind for regular Uniques.

Here's an idea, why not give the Diamond Uniques a different item text colour to differentiate them from Vanilla Diamond Uniques?
Ascension tied to Lab is the worst thing GGG has done...apart from GGG's philosophy on Trading. Oh and Gambling Loot boxes. And selling out to tencent.

You misunderstand the point of a Unique. They aren't meant to be like Uniques or Legendaries in other games. They are meant to be a "unique" niche item, barely good only for builds it'd work for, or were designed to work for. Rare items will ALWAYS be superior to them.

They aren't meant to be "op."
