to explain, it is same effect. one is built into the skill while the other is a support and can be added to a skill.
If I'm understanding damage conversion correctly, the damage from the Hatred aura should be boosted by both elemental and physical damage increases. However, it doesn't seem to be that way.

I have a total of +50% increased weapon elemental damage passive nodes. I'm using the default attack with a mace and doing 1532.2 dps. The character sheet says that all of that damage is physical. After activating a level 1 hatred aura, which should give 15% of physical damage added as cold, I'm doing 1793.8 dps, which is a 17% increase. If I understood damage conversion correctly, I should be getting a 22.5% increase (15% and another 50% of that). What's wrong?

I tried doing this with a variety of attacks, also without wearing any gear, and the result is always the same. However, the weapon elemental damage support gem boosts hatred exactly as it should, only the passive nodes are problematic.
Don't look at DPS, but at per-hit damage. Actually, don't even do that:

Hatred takes your base Physical damage, multiplies that by 0.15 to get 15%.
'Increased' and 'Reduced' modifiers are applied; Physical, Melee, Cold, Weapon Elemental. The whole lot, in one go.
Then, 'More' and 'Less' are applied. LMP, Melee Physical damage, WED support. These are all separate modifiers.

If you work it out from the ground up, it'll work out fine.

The reason it's not that ridiculous a damage bonus is exactly because the 50% Increased Weapon Elemental Damage is not multiplicative, but added to all other Increased type modifiers.

Oh, so if I'm understanding you correctly, my total damage is 1*(%physical)+0.15*(%physical+%elemental) instead of (1+0.15*(%elemental))*(%physical), right?

Yes.
The physical part of the damage isn't change by Hatred. Only the damage added by Hatred are affected by both physical and elemental mods.

Another question: Does life leech from physical damage (from Carnage Heart, for example) apply to converted damage and to added damage (from Lightning Arrow and Hatred aura, for example)?

It applies to Physical damage, as the description states. Converted damage/Damage-based-on is not Physical; it's Lightning and Cold respectively. It won't work.

the quality on life leech will apply to all sources of life leech if you use the skill/spell that has the lifeleech gem. If you use a skill that doesn't have a quality lifeleech linked to it, it won't apply.

Can someone confirm that AOE boosts like Blast Area near witch start and Amplify next to Templar start Do Not effect Fireball skill? I got Blast Radius and the damage of my Fireball stayed the same while the damage of Firestorm increased. Odd since fireball is listed as AOE spell.

EDIT: Nevermind, its just not listed.
