[2.0] Low Budget Crit Tornado Shot Ranger | beginner friendly | great for new and casual players
" The bow isn't bad for Level 56 but no crit modifiers on the Quiver as an explicit and the belt is pretty medicore. You can get something like a Meginord's (which will eventually be Doryani's) for pretty cheap and the same goes for a middle of the pack dual crit/life/resist quiver. I've recently stopped playing this build as I finally got a Harbinger. Really enjoyed this as a first time character but Neversink's Passive Tree is more offensive early and transitions to defense, whereas this one is more defensive early and transitions to offense. To compare on this Passive Tree I had 3.7K Life and ~7K or so Tornado Shot DPS (with a Harbinger + updated items, not Infractem). I releveled a Ranger to take over using the other guide and I'm 6 levels below where I stopped, yet I have 11K DPS and 3.3K Life at this point. Just wondering, if and when I move over to a gg rare bow that beats infractem, what would the skill-tree look like?
Suggestion: Add a skill-tree for a transition from the final tree to one with piercing nodes and such. Last edited by WolfLordAkira#0395 on Mar 31, 2015, 2:57:56 AM

Hey guys - sorry for the long abstinence from this thread - the 1mhc takes it's toll. Just a couple of advises to some of the questions above:
1. for new bows while leveling you pick up blues and use the vendor recipe to craft ipd on it: http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Vendor_recipe_system#Equipment 2. In SC you can pick damage clusters early, sure. For me it's personal preference to get the highway traveling done first in the low levels and then get all the juicy clusters in the high levels, when progression slows down 3. Grace over Hatred is a massive survivability boost. As a matter of fact I used Grace until the mid 70s but then I found I had enough evasion to drop it. The extra damage from Hatred is massive and it almost doubles the clearspeed (at least it felt so in my case) 4. A GG Harbinger that can top Infractem in terms of damage should have more than 240 pDPS and more than 7,5% crit and has to have a decent accuracy roll (since this is important for crit). The cheapest in the Torment/Bloodlines SC league is 15c at the moment of this posting (see http://poe.trade/search/hasateonigokoi) but on standard you can get some deals for 5c ... tree wise you would get Blood Drinker to leech and spec into pierce nodes. I don't really want to post a tree, since Neversink did that already to perfection: http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1041989 ### r4wb1rd ###

Well written guide, i always like reading budget guides!
I do have a question though, in your final skill tree you wandered down to Revelry. That's step 9 while leveling so I can understand that for the early mana issues. But as you reach 85+ shouldnt you spec out of that and instead grab the Thrill Killer nodes (close to Hired Killer)? It would free up 4 points and you only lost +2 mana on hits. In my opinion that's a small price and can be sorted in several ways. If it comes down to it, you could even drop one life flask and grab a mana pot if necessary. Those 4 points can work wonders :) For clearing maps it should be superior, for Atziri perhaps the +2 mana is necessary? Anyway, that's the thing i reacted to, sorry if it came up somewhere in the thread before! |

Hi r4wb1rd
Just wanted to pay my respects and say thanks for this detailed build guide. I had never tried TS before and just wanted something safe for the 1 month HC race - with your build I reached 80 and got 4/4 with zero deaths, thanks mate. Loving the build to far! I always wanted to walk through Wraeclast with a shotgun.

" The +2 mana on hit is the only sole reason I took Revelry. Since you're hitting so many mobs at once you will never run out of mana as long as mobs are around. With Thrilled Killer you only get mana when you kill things. If you one shot everything that's ok but as soon as mobs survive your initial salvo you're screwed (since you cannot leech). This option is perfect though for the GG Harbinger variant if you also spec into the pierce and mana notables by the Shadow ... " Awesome, mate - I'm very glad you made it! I died twice (Glacial Cascade @73 and Shockwave Totem @70) and after that gave up on HC so I'm really flattered that the T-Shot build brought you to victory! ### r4wb1rd ###

I don't really get what you had in mind when you made the picture for how to level through the skill tree.
Are you seriously suggesting to take every single defensive node before grabbing virtually any offense? There's no way you can kill cruel dominus in anywhere near reasonable time this way, I'm sorry. Even if you're doing HC, you NEED dps to stay alive, especially when it comes to bossfights. |
