So you would have to use both. You only need to skill MoM in the tree if you haven't got a Cloak of Defiance. I'm level 90 atm with almost 4k life and 7k mana. I'm having no problems in T13-T14 so far even though I haven't got the last Ascendancy yet. As soon as I got "Triggger a socketed spell when you use a skill" the build felt smooth.
