The reason why we embargoed the Alpha information was not to do with new content, but because we didn't want crazily buggy screenshots getting out and confusing people. Alpha is often a wasteland of broken experimental content. We've deployed versions with several known crashes and very embarassing problems. It's nice to know that we don't have to waste time polishings these things prior to getting feedback.

Having said that, I am 100% happy with screenshots of the current Alpha build (with the exception of the passive skills tree currently - sorry) getting posted to the Beta forum if we approve them. Alpha testers: feel free to PM/mail me pictures if you want approval.

Beta testers: I am very very sorry for this huge delay between patches. It was a massive planning mistake and I take full responsibility and will make sure that it never happens again. Once 0.9.3 is deployed, there will be a patch every few days for the rest of the life of Path of Exile. There will never again be a period of months without updates!

as has been said before, it's better to have a patch run overtime and be well worth the wait for it or rush it out to please a few people and have it crash and burn all the time as is the case with a lot of new games. I for one will wait patiently for the patch to come out in tip top condition no matter how long it takes, waiting is ok, if I need to I just play something else till it comes out.
While I can't wait to actually get dirty and test, I'm happy it's taking so long, I have had massive midterm/essay aggro the past two weeks!

Keep up the good work Chris/GGG/Alpha testers!
I swear to god if you ask me for a beta key you will get a severe tongue lashing. Cheers!

Compared to pushing out an update that wasn't ready (i.e. not working on a basic level due to all intermingling systems not being finished), delaying it was a much better option. In any development process, you have to always expect major delays to occur at random times. GGG had a plan for what 0.9.3 was going to be, and they told us that plan. But as they were creating it, they realized other things could and should be changed to make it better. As they hit these delays, we were told about them in the form of "it'll take more time." This is intended to be a massive version update, not just another incremental patch to 0.9.2.

Not realy.
It looks like you try to defende something that went wrong.
It was never planed to be a massive update, it wasn't planed to chance so many things in one patch. The patch evolved itself, grew, got bigger and bigger.
Delaying it wasn't a much better option, it was the only option they had at this point.

They made a mistake and they will learn from it as Chris mentioned in the post above.

A planning mistake, yes. But the point that you should always expect delays is valid.

This looks like quite a bit of change to me, and this was clearly meant to be a big update from the beginning that got even bigger as they found more things to improve. The fact that it's a version update instead of an incremental patch, by itself, implies that it was always meant to be a major update.

First in the credits!
I might be a bit young and naive but to me atleast i don´t se what the fuzz is about.

Chris: Sorry we will not be able to give you the next uppdate soon , it will be delayed. But we are working hard on it.

Players: Ok , so will there be any form of compentastion for this annoyens ?

Chris: Instead of a nice cake will give you a candy factory at the end.

Players: Sweeeeeet !

I have understanding for players not feeling like playing cause of char wipe. And frustration about it taking so long to get the new candy. But the devs talk daily with there fans and answer questions and also provides some teasers. Soooo thats the problem ? :)

And atleast for me every time i play the game i notice new things or editions that could maybe be a nice idee. And even if a problem / idee has already been reported , your view on the subject might be diffrent. So i still atleast feel like i as a beta player gets alot to work with.

But , once more , i have understanding for the diffrent sides of the coin. I just don´t think there is so mutch to get worked up about :)

had we not been getting answers and explinations and just a normal

"We are working on it and will provide you with the information when it is time for it"

keeping players in the dark about whats up , then i belive there would be cause for going spitter on there boneheads ^^

From my point of view atleast.

Yours
