Put base minion damage into gem description [2 month since reddit -- no response]
For SRS there isn't really any issue since the mechanic of the skill is well known. But for Spectres there is often no way to see what they should be supported with. In some cases it is even hard to notice if they use attacks or spells and which damage type they are dealing (are they dealing true elemental damage or is it converted elemental damage, that used to be physical).
Would be really cool if in the Top Left corner where our spectres we could see informations on them, for this to happen they would have to be split by type though (although most people only have on type of spectre). There isn't really a need for explicit numbers, dps doesn't matter all that much anyway, but at least giving us the proper tags for the spectre. A elemental skeleton as one example usually has physical damage converted to an element, attack and melee. Having those tags would allow people to accuractly support the spectre (not that someone would use skeletons as a spectre). Explosive arrow guys would be AoE, Fire, Projectile. Some spectres with two attacks would have some mixed tags Evangelists would have Duration, Spell, Melee, Attack, AoE since they still have a regular attack like lot of spell casters have. You could in theory also place exact damage numbers there but the question always is how avaible this information is at this point and it would require to seperate spectres not only by type but also by level. Something that is also more troublesome and a good example why you should get hints for spectres is weapon elemental damage. It is pretty clear that summon raging spirits does not benefit from WEP... because they carry no weapon. But how about spectres? Tentacle Miscreations are actually shooting something somehow... but they do not really have a weapon, however as a player there are no unarmed ranged attacks, so does it work? How about ghosts. Does the weapon belong to the ghost and thus isn't actually a weapon he picks up and uses? Ghosts can't pick up weapons so they should always be unarmed, but than again WEP doesn't really state the weapon cannot be part of the body... which again would mean a fist is a weapon as well... really tricky. " http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Summon_Raging_Spirit This should be enough for a spreadsheat. There are simply technical issues, because what the tool tip does is showing what the skill does. And in case of Raging Spirits or basically any other summon it summons a minion. Since it never deals damage and doesn't in anyway use stats from the player (except for those that are meant to be used) it game doesn't even know how much damage a players raging spirits would deal, because that is not the information that a tooltip cares about, because its not part of the spell. The job of the gem "Summon Raging Spirit" ends at the moment the spirit is created. At this point it is its own entity. For Totems and Traps the calculation works since they still use the players spells and stats, minions though do not. |

The point is that we don't know how the curve for SRS goes past 20 so we don't know exactly what to invest it: cast speed or + levels.

" That is old values, it has not be updated...this is current values! http://poedb.tw/us/gem.php?n=Summon+Raging+Spirit |

" I thought they already updated the wiki, my bad. But despite the change in numbers the actual skill didn't change all that much in terms of scaling. |

Holy mother ... poedb is back again? Thanks for the information.

+1
Future response from Chris: Really this is hardly a "marketable" feature. Maybe if summoners offered to pay for damage calculations on the gems...... |

Bump... come on GGG, you don't have a justifiable reason for not sharing this with us.

This sounds like a reasonable product development

tooltip damage is meaningless and misleading anyway
"Is there such a thing as an absolute, timeless enemy? There is no such thing, and never has been. And the reason
is that our enemies are human beings like us. They can only be our enemies in relative terms." |

" while this is true... the base damage on gems is very meaningful and truthful Have a problem with something I said? PM goetzjam don't derail a thread. 'There's plenty that needs to change.
