" I honestly don't know why people keep suggesting Siphon anything. The whole point of siphon in Power Siphon is that it is siphoning off power to give you power charges. So far there hasn't been anything in this new skill about siphoning off anything to give you power charges, or charges of any sort. Therefore, using siphon in the name would just be misleading. " As with my comments viz the use of siphon for this skill the 'power' part of the 'power siphon' name refers to the fact that what you're siphoning is going to help you get power charges. There's nothing in this new skill (so far) that has suggested the gaining of power charges, so the word 'power' in its name would just be misleading. Neither 'power' nor 'siphon' themselves intrinsically or necessarily relate to wands. Ergo, these terms are bad names for the skill, and will probably be ignored by the devs. People should stop suggesting them. |

" I guess the thing is that there are many melee weapons, some one handed, some 2 handed, some blunt, some edged, some cleaving, some slashing, some piercing. Skills for melee weapons can usually be used with weapons that fall into several of these categories, and sometimes even weapons that fall into all of them. Skills for melee weapons are typically just that, skills that apply for the broad class of melee weapons, sometimes with some restrictions for particular subgroups of weapons (eg, whirling blades, 1h swords, daggers, claws). Point is, that within the class of melee weapon skills, any given skill will be able to be used with a range of weapons. But within the class of projectile weapons there are only really 2 different weapons, Wands and Bows. This is still a class of weapons though, just as melee weapons are a class, so too are projectile weapons a class. Given that there are melee skills that only work with some kinds of melee weapons we might reasonably expect that there would be projectile skills that only work with some kinds of projectile weapons. And since there are essentially only 2 projectile weapons, it is therefore reasonable to expect some projectile weapon skills exclusive to one type of weapon. However, that does not mean to say that all skills in the projectile weapon class should be exclusive, neither does it mean to say that a gem such as "explosive projectiles" necessarily couldn't work with wands. Sure, you couldn't strap a stick of dynamite to a wand projectile, but wands are, after all, magic. Who is to say that the witch couldn't empower her wand projectiles with explosiveness in some arcane way? In fact, this new wand skill is just that, a projectile being fired from your wand which explodes. Granted, the way that it explodes is quite different from explosive arrow, but really I think it just strengthens my case that many arrow skills could be broadened to the projectile category. Perhaps it could also be the case that the new wand skill could be a projectile skill useable with bows. I think it would be entirely reasonable to shift some of the 'arrow' skills into the 'projectile' category to provide more diversity for wands. Perhaps the main argument against this suggestion would be that, because of the huge difference in physical dps between wands and bows, the skill gem damage multipliers on bow gems would be terribly underpowered for wands, and wand skill gem damage multipliers would be awfully overpowered on bows. *shrug* Wands can be dual wielded and bows can't, wands generally get much better crit chance than bows.
