Timeline for New Challenge Leagues, 1.3.0 PvP Update and PvP/Race Seasons

For one, who the fuck is Ghudda? LOL. Sounds like a popular streamer I guess. If he did something that is a bannable offense he should be freaking banned like anyone else. And the fact it sounds like he did it in front of an audience should make it permanent in my opinion. Double standard here in my opinion if they don't perma ban every single person attempting or doing the offense. But not my game or my decision.
if its possible release the challenge leagues earlier or something.. december 12th is sooooooooooo far away and i kinda miss poe =(

To address the issue that happened earlier today - we've fixed the exploit that allowed players to reroll items via crashing the servers. Well sorry Chris, but ** **** ********. Unban ghudda and move on. How could anybody know this is a DoS? Players can't know. Bugs happen and I would have expected a rollback, but don't blame this on the players, don't go down that road GGG.

(yes i censored that myself.)

xDDD le reddit army xD unban ghudda he didn't know what he was doing he posts on reddit all the time XDDD how could someone like him do illegal stuff? Unban xDDD le upvote this xD.

Now, I realise that you're not that stupid and that you just feel like there aren't legit reasons to ban him, but really: Would you even care if he wasn't reddit's favourite player?

Question, what happens to a Rampage character if you no available character slots left when it is time to move over to Standard?

They become std chars that's it, doesnt matter slot left. They use the slot they're already using.

Wow, that's just said people would be doing that especially if they know about. Thank you for addressing this matter and deal with who abuse it. Keep up the great work and can't wait for the 1week race and the new season to start.

The timeline is great as well to give us an idea of what is being released. Keep up the great work!

We are well down the road of banning people who cheat or try to crash servers for economic gain.

Ghudda's account isn't over the threshold that would result in a permanent ban, but it'll be included in the set who are temporarily suspended. There's no need to stream exploits to raise awareness of them - we were working on it a few hours before it was streamed. Thanks to those people who wrote in privately before it was public knowledge.

Great response.

Curious about timelines, and how long this has been exploited. There are a couple of strangely near-perfect crafts on Rampage that outdo Standard crafts.

This. I'm glad they caught this, but how many people knew about it before this is scary.. I can think of a 1% off from perfect dagger that was crafted a month? into rampage league, that even with RMT seems hard to pull off. Hearing about the numbers of eternals/exalts players go through making these items, it's astonishing how a dagger like that could be crafted within that small amount of time. I mean, it's mind-boggling to think that there is even that many eternals available within a month of a fresh league/economy, let alone 1 person getting their hands on the amount needed... Dude must've had some sick RNG...

Rampage in Peace

edit: 'Bout the 5 challenge MTX, is there a specific date of when we could expect it to be given?

I felt the need to express my personal opinion on the exploit / banning issue... (It may well be tainted by my view / experience as a developer :)

Enforcing the Terms of Service by timing out / banning people that use an exploit seems to be a good way to show that these actions hurt the game / community and are not tolerated.

But it has to be used wisely, otherwise people may no longer report possible exploits for the fear of being perma-banned (as it seems to have happened to players of other popular games before). If in doubt time people out an talk to them, before permanently banning them.

I think responsible disclosure of (possible) exploits to GGG should be rewarded and not punished. This also means that the Support has to pay attention to bug reports that claim that there is a problem that might be exploited. Many other companies make the mistake to only react to these reports / issues, if they are made public - which is really sad :(

The main goal has to be to find and fix the root cause of the exploit in the system.
Spoiler
It this case it seems to be a cache inconsistency in a distributed (Database)System - which might be hard to fix, as it probably requires architectural changes to ensure transactional state consistency (of the character data). Which might affect the performance, as the existence of a cached state seems to indicate.
Otherwise malicious people will find ways to exploit the system again and avoid detection (as they seem to be doing with other actions that are against the ToS).
I heard about this exploit like 3 weeks ago. Why wasn't it fixed immediately? I think I saw it on a post in the forums HERE so you know the devs knew about it then. This is the kind of thing that should have a drop-everything-you're-doing-this-needs-fixed response.

The guy who rolled an almost perfect ambusher was doing this. There probably wasn't even enough currency in the entire league to roll that item like it was. He got banned. Which means they knew about it then, which was about a month ago.

Talk about a slow response to an epic problem.
