I dont really consider ANY crit builds as HC viable. Damage too spikey.
What you want for HC is same equipment (but no crit jewelry just life and spell dam) wear pyre ring so all cold to fire and 24-26 AA prtects u. along with fire purity. Maybe should remove Overcharge, duration and take crit multiplier? This will give more DPS, imho. And about +9% cast speed in Witch tree. Is 30% spell damage (Because in the crit arc build, it gives you more) will give a little more DPS? You cant sustain power charges in map that way. Even 13 seconds in tough anyway sometimes. Sustaining 7 power charge is key to huge DPS and freeze. 6 and charges falling down you lose about 30% DPS and don't freeze as well.
As far as taking elemental nodes. Yeah little more DPS UP to you. I like cast speed given choice. More fluid gameplay with faster warp and better freeze since Cast Speed (and crit) relates to freeze strengths. Update to tree. Thanks to thoughts from Ming decided to drop Deep thoughts for Celestial Punishment 25% more hidden DPS. All jewelry needs greater than ~40% mana regen with this change.

Celestial Punishment isn't 'more', as in it's not a multiplier. Therefore it is at best a situational 25% 'increase' in damage, highly doubt it is worth it. I prefer Celestial Judgement, non-situational damage 'increase' as well as a penetration buff which is 'more' damage.
ps. You might also want to take the Heart of Ice cluster instead of the Mental Rapidity cluster, the effective increase to DPS for this build is higher than regular caster builds because you're using PoH, effectively limiting your spell damage increase from 2 weapon slots to 160% at most. |

Plus it is 10 int or the node in the templar tree. Generally 9% cast speed >>> 30% spell dmg usually, since rng roll. you might get shit low dmg rng roll. On contrary in Crit build, you especially want cast speed, particularly if you are using spell echo. Cast speed >>>>>>> almost all dmg scaling (maybe not crit chance or crit multi). Reason 1 to do dmg, you need decent dmg rng roll + you need to crit. <= (For cold dmg less of an issue) Reason 2 Spell echo repeats spell, if spell not crit , repeated spell won't crit too. The only method to overcome RNG is Crit Chance and cast speed. Storm Weaver cluster are good nodes but Celestrial Punishment and Judgement are amazing nodes. The shock status increases damage TAKEN by the entity by 50%, so it counts as MORE, as in multiplicative, 50% more damage like you said. HOWEVER, Celestial Punishment isn't MORE like I said, it 'increases' YOUR damage done to the target, and it is additive with spell damage, elemental damage etc. It is effectively a situational 25% spell/attack damage node. I'm not saying the node isn't bad, it would be even great in group scenarios where most targets are usually shocked/frozen/ignited. I'm just saying it is not as great as you make it out to be, since it doesn't work like half a shock, since it is not a multiplier. Feel free to google celestial punishment. |

Percentage modifiers using the words "% increased" or "% reduced" stack additively with one another, while "% more" and "% less" modifiers stack multiplicatively. Maybe the wording "taken" is used because not only the character that applied shock but also everyone in the party or everything on your side get the bonus. Maybe even self inflicted damage by the enemy receive that bonus too. |
