Herald of Ice
Thanks for the replies.
By saying Power Charge on Critical works, I mean that it gives Power Charges sometimes on critical strikes. I haven't tested it myself, I just posted the question myself because he asked me to because I was already writing the post. I thought maybe a developer was watching the new skill feedback threads but apparently not, so I'll test it out and send a private message to a developer if need be. Raghin, thank you for the explosion radius observations. They seem quite low to be honest, even when I scale area of effect radius with my Glacial Cascade build. I am glad though that it wasn't too large when released. same name in-game

" False I tested this running both Heralds linked to Power Charge on Crit and neither were giving me power charges, and I crit over 50%. At least not with Melee Attacks. Last edited by NoriymZ#5951 on Aug 22, 2014, 9:46:28 PM

" I am assuming you are linking chance to ignite to the HoI. Yes, if you use a lightning skill to freeze, or someone in your party freezes a mob, then your hit will trigger HoI which, if it will shatter the frozen mob, in turn procing an explosion, which can have a %chance to ignite. Not that it would do much damage without tons of %inc ele/fire. But will give you 4 sec to Flame Surge for with 50% bonus (and whatever %crit/ %shock to shock). |

i dont get how this skill works. if i use Incinerate with herald of ice, will i basically increase my damage by 75%? so for every cast of incinerate does it also do the herald of ice damage?

there's two parts to herald skills: the damage boost, then the finisher bonus.
the flat damage listed on bottom of the skill, will apply to incinerate in your example. then the top damage listed is what happens when monsters die. |
|
HoI + Incinerate will be a similar effect to using added cold support gem linked to incinerate. There is a 30% damage effectiveness. Meaning the contribution of HoI would be HoI * (1 - .3) = cold damage added.
I am unsure of the effect of the multipliers per stage effect on this number. |

I'm not sure if this is a bug or if it is intended, but linking Cold to Fire with HoI will only modify the AOE damage, the small bonus to spells and attacks does not change. I would have expected both portions of the skill to convert and not just the AOE.
The real advantage of this skill is that it allows you to boost the damage of your main skills without needing to be linked to that skill. It saves you a socket on your main skill links in some cases and also allows you to trade some mana reservation in place of a cost multiplier. |

Herald of Ice Bug Report:
Just got this gem and went to use it's power. Just looking at the gem while not being equipped, it says that it's mana reserved is 25%. I have it going right now and in the spell bar it lists the mana reserved at 32%, and most of my mana is gone while I am running another 60% mana reserved gem. I've done some testing with it, turned on and off auras, removed the equipment and put them back on. I don't have any points in mana reserve % reductions at this time so I can't see if the base 32% goes up or down if I put a point into one. Just seems that the spell is a little buggered atm. As for build. I just got this in the 3 month Rampage league on my level 30 witch for finishing the quest for finding Clarissa and Tolman. I've not synced it with any other spells or support gems. In game bug report 3902095237. Thanks InstantKkoffee |

" Yeah I tested it myself as well. It seems my friend was mistaken or lying. " It's intended. The added damage works just like it would from an "Added ___ Damage" support gem, just that it comes from a buff. You have to link Cold to Fire to the skill it is adding damage to for the cold damage to be converted. same name in-game Last edited by iao#2860 on Aug 23, 2014, 5:40:20 AM
