wouldnt it be better for a 6 link, when u got searing touch and burn dmg nodes

fire trap, chance ignite, ele prolif, conc effect, fire pen and empower 3+ ?

No, because inc burning damage applies to burn caused by initial hit ignite (its a big % modifier). Burning damage you see on tooltip is 2ndary effect of burning ground. Mind you inc burning damage on Q20 gives me now 10% chance to ignite putting up my fire trap chance to ignite to 53%, hence me not taking those passive nodes that give chance to ignite, it comes from gem. It helps on maps with "immune to curse" mod where you can't use flammability.

Yes 6l is better then 5l and I would love to use one if only I had enough currency to buy one.

Empower lvling on swap but not for fire trap set up but AA.

Also if you do stuff like Oak on 73 maps that is highly resistant to fire / elemental damage :< Feel free to use flame surge set up for extra dps. Oak doesn't hit too hard if you got IR, you can face tank him :)

I need to find make some friends to map with cause hosting maps and saving up for 6L doesn't work out very well... I think its time to pay some small fee for 75-76 maps rather then spam 73 that give like no exp.

Regarding my gear and tree no changes... half way to 90 , can't find reasonably priced upgrades on xyz.. 6L still priority.

thats my gear atm and i read that burning damge doesnt scale that good when u got searing and the burn nodes.

this is my setup atm

Some pretty nice staff you got there :O
Wish I had 6l to try things out... But until I get lucky with something no 6L for me.
Also would have to get lucky with some gem corruptions :\

Don't have access to lvl 3 Empower yet to tell the difference between extra +1 and +2 in 5L but for me it fetches roughly 10% base dps on tool tip using 2 lvl 19 heralds instead of grace at cost of 58% burning damage and 10% chance to ignite ( lvl 17 + 2 ).

Would be best to go fight something extremely resistant to fire / elemental and test bunch of times what works better for you. Until I get 6l I stick to what I use for now.
Just ripped my level 65 Fire Trapper. First char in Bloodlines, so I started with nothing. This build is probably the best leveling build I've ever tried. One trap kills 99% of mobs and a searing bond totem will kill the other 1%.

Sorry to hear you ripperinyo'd but at least you had a blast. Yes build is fairly flexible, you can have more dps , you can be tankier, whichever you want = fun ! Ya.. Been designed to work with almost any gear and scale better with certain items and access to more links , gems etc.
Pretty good spec to farm docks on Merciless too :)

Keep trying !

PS. Am currently running manual Enduring Cry - Spell Echo - Faster Casting - Molten Shell. Makes me feel extremely tanky combined with granite flask.
Havin fun with this build in the new league. This is what I'm rockin currently (level 87) and I haven't had much trouble with anything.

Rocking
and really only need a 21/20 fire trap to really start finishing off the build. Great build and is a ton of fun. Probably going to start using flameblast along with it as well to see how Atziri could go.
Probably already been mentioned, but, I'm assuming the unique trap boots don't provide enough stats to make it worthwhile? the speed gain on trap throw, etc
Hi,

I would need your help to understand how Fire trap damage scales.

I have all gems mentioned in guide with quality 10%++

I have been using a wand +2 fire skills and 23% fire dmg with Fire trap + Ignite chance + Prolif.
I'm now level 80 and all mobs die in 1-3 seconds from burning @ 71-72 maps with me casting flammability.

Now i bought a Searing Touch and that's where the problem starts .... Fire Trap is one of many skills in POE where you can't trust tool tip DPS.

1)As i see Burning dmg from Searing Touch doesn't get factored into tool tip DPS.

I get 22% Burning damage from my 15% fire trap
58% dmg from Inc Burning Gem
So where do the 70% from staff go ?

2)Chance to ignite 49%,
I have 6% base from Inc Burning Gem
I have Chance to Ignite Gem at 43%
Where do all the % from the skill tree go? (at least 10% missing)

And in general what does chance to ignite gem accomplish? With or without it all mobs insta die anyways.
Should i be looking at boss interaction to see the actual dmg difference?

3) How does Celestial Punishment work with Fire Trap and should i skill into it?
Mobs must be ignited before getting into contact with skill or as soon as the start to burn they count as ignited = +25% dmg?

4) Does item rarity gem work with Fire Trap? Or if mobs die from burn it's not counted towards skill?

TLDR
Basically i went from Wand and shield to 4L Searing touch and i see no increase in DPS.
I'm sure that with 5L/6L and conc effect dmg will be more visible, but is such investment generaly necessary if maps can be cleared regardless with ease.

Thanks for your time
Hi, loving the build so far, was wondering what gems would you say would be the most important to get to 20% quality first? I already have fire trap at 20%

Thank you.
