Sorry if I keep bothering you, I promise it's the last time :p

Do you happen to have a link or something to explain this block math? I'm always very interested to learn. Btw I tried incinerate with LMP (it's the only thing I have) and without the fire nodes and I must admit that for single target it's awesome if you can withstand the hits without having to kite.
Your effective HP multiplier is 1/(1-block). 50% block = 2x multiplier, 75% block = 4x HP multiplier.

@KuteKitteh

Iam really progressing with this build and got really lucky with drops to sell :)

I switched to a 6S 5L CoD which i use now for CoH Ball lightning with GMP like suggested in this thread ... it is really great for lazy mode :) Nevertheless i have still currency left to progress with my gear.

Iam toying around with the idea of taking Vaal Pact. Because i use Windscream i have space for a lightning leech SoL and i already have Doranyis Invitation.

What is your Opinion on Vaal Pact with either 1% or 2% leech?
Vaal pact won't do diddly squat with so little leech. I would just boost leech speed by increasing max HP, 20% of max Hp per second is enough for me.

Great build KuteKitteh.

I'm running it with my scion lvl 94 and it works great.

Doing all maps with no problems. Killed all map bosses. Didnt try Atziri yet.

Auras i'm running are TS and clarity. In a hard map with reflect i'll add purity of lightning and in reflect + -max res map i'll toss in a topaz flask.

Using double curses casted manually with inc aera and faster casting.

After reservation got 2627 mana left. With parties that run discipline and haste my DPS is around 12,7k and got almost 400 mana regen.

My stats:

HP:4428
MP:3891
DPS:11290

No idea if i could get higher dps wit a rare wand... any idea KuteKitteh?

Ty again for this great and fun build.
If I were you I would actually get a Dory with faster casting speed, even a 90/10 would give you marginally faster clear speeds than a 100/6.

wish badly i could smash em together :p

also wondering how much resists i should aim for if i count elemental weakness map is it 110% to cover the - from it?
I believe it is now 109%, although I would go even higher because of the occasional flam/cond/frost curse unit.

thxs again for the quick reply and this great build ... it is realla great build you do not even have to look at the specials of the mob on 72-73 maps you can jsut arc them away :)

Recently bought a 6L CoD using lifeleech instead of empower because my empower gem is still lvl 1 :( It is almost impossible to die now .... tried Iron Will gem as a temporary solution for more dps and it increases my dps by 9%, really looking forward to lvl 3 empower :)
Yesterday I was sharing some masters in a double boss Temple with vulnerability and max ele. reflect and I hadn't quite picked off one or two monsters, as the guys came in two of them died within a couple of seconds, I hadn't even realised it was a reflect map, I just notice my mana draining a bit quicker than normal.
Had to apologise to the poor bastards. You may have umpteenthousand-kay-depee-ess, but I don't even notice that maps have elemental reflect haha!

On a side note, I dropped a SECOND rathpith today - if any of you need a 48% one I'll be happy to sell you one for a more than reasonable price (Rampage).

Hi, i am having a blast with the build. Its my first char at PoE and i think it was the wise choice. With this build ill probably support other builds to come, since it is so easy to relax and make maps, maybe in the near future ill invest in some mad IIR/IIQ.
For now i would like you to take a look at my gear and tell me what you thing i should invest for upgrade:

Recently i got preaty lucky, some one told me that woul be possible to make Soul Taker, chancing a Siege Axe. At my 3rd attempt got this little bastard :

So for now i maybe have 30 / 40 exalts to spend in gear or in gems.

PS: Do tou think this ring would be a nice upgrade for 6 Ex:
The dex Would be rly nice, because i am having trouble levling some dex gems, and i could free a dex node in tree

+28 to maximum Life
+48 to Dexterity
+57 to maximum Life
65% increased Mana Regeneration Rate
+16 to maximum Energy Shield
+37% to Lightning Resistance

thank you!

@karna
You should absolutely buy that ring. Otherwise your setup is pretty decent.

hey, i was just wondering. In most situations do you always have 3 auras running other than those special mods during maps. That is u have TS, haste/disc, and clarity.

Also how do u think i should setup my aura for a map like this? should i also carry a topaz flask?

thank you in advance!

I love this build so far. Just getting into act 3 merciless, very fun!!! Seriously thank you for making this build, I've been wanting to make arc since before open beta, just never had much gear.

Anyways, I have a question, not sure if it's been asked, i've read through quite a few pages. At the witch start, you take the 3x 10% spell damage nodes, instead of 3x 4% faster casting nodes. Which would be better? I kind of feel like some extra speed would be nice, but i don't want to lose damage. So 30% spell damage > 12% cast speed?

Anyways, i'm not even running MoM or AA yet, still managing to just dominate content so far! :D
Hello KuteKitteh =)
First I have to thank you for sharing your build (and the comments of somes people posting here :D), as it gave me some insight on what people do and how they do it.

I have started playing as an arcer since about one week after 1.2 was realeased, and my build evolved a lot since I started it, to finally look pretty similar to yours, with somes little differences. It started much more glass cannon (not crit) to become tankier as I adjusted it, because my playstyle is very agressive, so I always have to make a very tanky build to counterbalance it (strangely if I start with a tanky build I have a much arder time making it do damages than going the other way).
And also thank you for the leeching tempest shield, it's very efficient and powerful (so much than I wonder why I never thought about it), I have totally adopted it ^^

Because I love to focus on one build at a time and polishing it, I was thinking on how to take it at its limits, slowly but surely, so I am going to share my thoughts on it.

My current passive tree is this one:

As you can see I already adapted mine to yours (wich is a bit more efficient).
And for the scion, thats because when I started my arcer all my witches's respec where already used...

Here is my gear:
Spoiler

Nothing spectacular, I just took what seemed the best suited in my stash, I will improve it bit by bit (particulary the helmet, it's something I had to craft on the spot because I had no good ES/life helmet). For the gems, I am trying to get them perfect, when I fail vaaling one, I remove it and use a new to try again, so for a while it won't be really optimised.

Now let's get into the most important part (and the reason I am posting here :D), the optimisation. I am obviously only speaking in term of far endgame, where you don't care about the price to increase one stat by a bit.
I feel like doryani's catalist's leech (the 4L being useless for us) isn't enough to justify it's use over a good wand/scepter (even more with one crafted with the +1% light leech), so I decided to drop it and instead get the leech on the amulet (but ideally I will get it on the weapon and use a +1 curse amulet). To get the +1 curse in the meantime, I use windscream, wich is actually pretty good, with its elem damages and resist. To compensate for the loss of life, I take more life nodes instead of dps ones. Later with a really strong wand/scepter with leech on it, I will drop it for somes life/ES/resists boots.
By doing this way, I can get more dps from the weapon, while keeping the +1 curse and the leech, while taking more life nodes from the tree. Anyone see a flaw in how I do it?

Also, about the cwdt, I find it very underwhelming when used with evasion/dodge/block builds, so I am casting manually my enduring cry and immortal call (at its current level I get almost 6s with 3 charges and I can take 2 more endurances charges if needed...).
While tempest shield's leech + block + arctic armour extremly powerful against packs of mobs, it's not very good against hard hitter and there is the risk of severals hit not getting blocked in a row, so I prefer having the possibility to cast a long immortal call when needed than a short one that proc.
Of course for bosses easy to dodge like khole, it's not really necessary, but after doing a jungle valley with two bosses, monster damages, attack/cast speed and vulnerability, I decided to change into a manual setup (Yeah, I got raped ^^). I think any ranged hard hitter can potentially be impossible to do giver the right combination of mods.

Edit:
Also for really though map, I plan on using another set of curses, enfeeble for obvious reason, and warlords mark for both leech and the charges.

I hope my grain of salt will help someone, and good grind everyone :D

@Dizzy, I always run Clarity, Haste, and TS. For any map with significantly boosted damage, I would run Disc instead of Haste, or not run a 60% aura at all and rely on mana flasks for faster recovery. A map like that, I would just run with Disc and no other special accommodations, but if you want to play it safe, you should bring a granite flask or something. Topaz isn't necessary since the +99% modifier essentially gives phys hitters +25% damage on you, and Topaz would only decrease that to +15%. That means Topaz will cut down on your damage intake by 8%, which any decent granite flask can beat.

@iGanc, the faster casting is preferable if you have all the end-game GG gear (doryani, rathpith, etc.) If you feel that you will benefit from more cast speed instead of spell damage, feel free to take the cast speed anyways.

@Frolamiz, you can deviate from a Dory if you can find one with more lightning spell damage, cast speed, and an open mod slot for leeching.

As for manual EC/IC casting, it can be efficient but I just prefer to mindlessly play and faceroll everything without having to worry about more than a handful of spells. Also, the CWDT setup helps with optimizing DPS output. If you feel that you need the long IC, you can run a higher level of CWDT. It is true that CWDT is a little underwhelming on damage-avoiding builds, but it is still a necessary component. If you still feel that manual cast is better, then go ahead and do it by all means.

Also, go for Deep Thoughts. Amazing MoM food.

Yes, I was planning to get deep thought later, but for now I don't have mana issues even when I get an huge spike of damage thanks to hybrids flask (the 1.2 buff is really great).

What annoy me with a higher cwdt is that I still can't add increased duration on it, so it still feel a bit short. I think I will try later to get a corrupted 3L to swap aura and use the high level cwdt on a 4L, but for now I'm fine with it and I have others priority.

I was also thinking of trying a voideye later when I get a better gear for res/dex/mana regen and try to put arctic armour in it (maybe with inner force), the boost on AA may be worth the loss in life. It would also be easy to swap to another ring for maps where you don't use AA.
