On another note, one of the quests is named "Piety's Corruption". The quests seem to be in sequence and when comparing them to the area names she seems to be in the "Belly of the beast" section. EDIT: That section is before the final areas. Piety as a guardian boss before the final encounter?
Anyway Piety's body is sucked into a portal that has a specific symbol. The same symbol appears when Dominus is transformed into the killer rabbit. It also appears in Vaal art all over their ruins. My guess is that Act 4 has at least four boss fights: Kaom, Daresso, reanimated Piety and finally whatever is nested around the Rapture device. Could it be that whatever is guarding the device is the same force that has been present throughout Wraelcasts history? The one Dominus referred to as his "God"? Hmmm, if the screenshots and info is true it appears someone over at GGG really REALLY likes the book "The Black Company" by Glen Cook. Put a hood on the lady with the iron mask and you have Soulcatcher.

If it is all true, then someone over at GGG is really in trouble - either waist-deep for accidentally adding dev stuff to a release build (alpha or main) or chin-deep for leaking stuff intentionally...

The idea of it being merciless only doesn't seem so weird to me now, considering the length, though it could be that it's missing a bunch of filler still. " Yeah saw that one too but the music was retracted last time I looked. Probably GGG giving a warning. Anyway like I said, the entire act structure gives me strong Diablo 1 vibes: you start out in Highgate/Tristram and after entering the mines/cathedral descend deeper into it. On the way you encounter Kaom/Daresso/Piety/Leoric/Lazarus. The surrounding become more and more twisted and culminate in the final fight with The Beast/Diablo.
