Meteor please!

I like Flameblast. It's simple and the effect seems to matches the spell name. You don't get the sense that it is an apocalyptic spell based on its name like "Firestorm" could imply.

Now if you were to take the visuals of Flameblast where the circle expands out as something approaches from the sky, that would be superb.

I guess I'm wishing for some added creativity from GGG's 3d fx team (of 1 or 2 people?). And lets not forget about sound.

As a side note, I thought the D2 Meteor was done much, much better compared to the version in D3. A lot of it boiled down to sound. In D2 you had this gradual humming sound that increased in volume as the meteor hit. They basically removed that in D3 - and just turned it in to crap much like everything else.

A meteor MTX for flameblast would be incredibly cool. FB already has a little hum to it that gets louder with each stage, so replace that with the sound of something hurtling from the sky and the blast effect changed to a meteor impact would be so good. The D2 meteor sound really is iconic imo. I think there's already a short delay between letting go of the button and the skill casting, where the effect of a meteor falling from the sky could come in. Of course, the meteors size would scale to stacks and AOE increases.

I'll buy that.

How do you see that? D2 meteor had fixed "arrival time", so to say. That allowed it to have a falling meteor animation. FB "arrives" instantly after you release RMB (or whatever), so how should the game know when to start showing that falling meteor? And what about different radiuses for different stages?
And worst change is putting almost all bosses in new version of maps into fucking small areas, where you can't kite well or dodge stuff. What a terrible idiot invented that I want say to him: dude flick you, seriously flick you very much.

Vaal Flameblast, on the other hand, actually is Meteor.

Its pretty easy think creative. Its a lot harder and costly to make creative. A meteor the size of charged blast would be a real pain to make. Giant explosion with baked out physics animation. Also a meteor would have to be sculpted up , textured and broken up into pieces.

Its fine as a mtx as we normally get more members together on mtxs. However on skill effects they are mostly created purely by us fx guys. By guys I mean 2 of us. We make effects. We dont do animation work and modeling work. Also wouldn't a meteor covering everyone's screen be a real pain in the ass?. We normally try to keep giant effects see through unless they were made ages ago. Back when we didn't really realize how large people could get aoe. Its the reason charged blast is more poofy and detailed up with runes instead of a big flashy explosion.

The fuck's your problem? You're talking as if PoE didn't borrow a huge chunk of ideas and game structure from D2. Most of the devs and PoE supporters grew up on D2. Yes, not everything in D2 has to be in PoE, but skills like Meteor were popular all throughout LoD for a reason.
