Char is a ranger.

How different is this build from an ele buzzsaw build?
Also is it viable to do it as a shadow and not a ranger?

Shadow sucks for this one, waste of points.

Kind of different, mostly pull points and shove down the left hand side.

Dom, props for making it so far in the one month, acquiring such insane gear this early in a hardcore league and thanks for the entertainment on stream.

I'd be really curious to hear your thoughts on the balancing of offensive versus defensive stats on this character. Specifically, why you went for a 40k dps GMP paired up with 6.6k ES instead of using LMP and dropping a few offensive nodes for more ES.
I ask because one, I fail to see the advantages of using GMP over LMP at this amount of damage and two, it seems that a larger ES amount would allow for much more comfortable gameplay when it comes to taking large amounts of damage and being subjected to lag, desync, or anything else that's somewhat bound to happen every other hundred hour of play or so.

If he went LMP he would die to reflect. At that level of damage, he must use GMP to split the damage up otherwise Dom would be a sad Dom.

GMP is better spread at this level of DPS - when you one-shot anyway, you may as well one-shot more things.

Generally speaking, 6.5k ES is the safe level for low-life builds. At that level, not even Courtyard bosses one-shot and the damage output should be enough for everything to melt provided no desync :(

bump
The chance to Vaal +1% maximum resists on an amulet is less than 1/300.

I understand that GMP is used to avoid reflect issues due the character's damage output being too high, it's good that you mention it as others might not be aware of this. What I fail to understand, is how in a Hardcore setting using GMP with 6.7k ES could be superior to using LMP - tailoring the blades damage to remain similar to that of the GMP setting by moving points from offensive to defensive nodes - and a higher ES amount.
In my experience (running the physical version of this spec on HC from 88 to 93+ with mostly solo play and 150+ atziri runs), GMP only provides a very marginal advantage in terms of clear speed: like you say, you one shot things anyway and the speed at which you get blades out makes it really easy to cover everything with LMP.

From a Softcore perspective it might be true that 6.5k ES is the safe level for low-life builds. When it comes to reaching the top of the ladder in a Hardcore league, playing a character whose survivability can be described as "enough for everything to melt provided no desync :(" sounds like a pretty terrible idea though and that's why I'm asking about the offense/defense balance of Dom's character.

Yah I get what your saying - I remember HvC mapping with his low-life spectral guy, he had 10k ES taking all the shield ES nodes ^.^

Probably would have saved him from his death (more time to log-out) but it's hard to say, it was a race to top 5 after all xD

How did you survive without life leech during life build stages?

If you watched him play, he just didn't use leech.

Not so bad on reflect since he's immune with Ondar's, Ruby and Topaz.
