I think that probably describes a very small percentage of the population. You are generalizing pretty hard.
Anyway, this isn't a softcore/hardcore thing. It was just a thing about how the community as a whole responds to things lately. When I say "community" I am not referring to everyone, but the majority of what I see in the forums. Of course, those forums are also a very small percentage of the playerbase.
That doesn't stop it from being disrespectful and quite annoying.

I don't mind the new HC, no really. Just the fact that tantrums and threats can move GGG mountains.

What I do, however, mind is that a SC race became a huge tear-tsunami but a 1 week race, in which there where some hefty prices, not a single complaint where heard.
That was pure B.S if you ask me. The 1337's had some major advantages over the normal plebs. Everyone can do well in SC, not all can do well in HC.

I vote that SC/HC players should not longer be able to see the "opposing" leagues posts on the forums. I am so sick and tired of this shit that I am actually less inclined the touch the event even after HC addition.

Sets a bad precedent? The HC addition literally changes nothing. It has near zero impact on SC players. Maybe a few of them well miss out on cookies because more people play during the event.Sad times.

GGG did not cave in and fundamentally changed the game based on forum outrage. They enabled an option that has basically no negative impacts and should have been their in the first place. Options are not bad. It is why SC/HC exists.

Well that clearly isn't true. This game would be a lot less vile if it there was only one league. SC only or HC only. PoE community has grown disgusting because it gave players the option to have different rule sets. This was probably GGG's biggest mistake.

Its as if people forgot how bad invasion was...
