I'm sorry about the lack of updates on this system. It's very likely that cross-instance trading is going to be finished earlier than other changes to the trade system. We're also looking at changes to the noticeboard to make both trading and questing easier. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at any time.

Care to mention a date? Because this information could mean it'll take another year for the cross-instance trading and another 5 years for the rest.
Vote +1 to change Path of Exile to Path of Nerfs.
We hate to say, but ProjectPT was right.

PoE needs an improved in-game & website trading system, not an auction house. We need a tool like poe.xyz integrated in to the official website while ingame we need a system where you designate one or several stash tabs as "shop" tabs, set the buyout prices for the items you put in which then show up on the website part - kind of like the Procurement add-on.

I don't want to put stuff in an auction house and wait for the highest bidder to show up, i want to buy & sell stuff quickly and efficiently.

Like every auction house ever has a "Buy Out" option, not just bids, so this point of yours is rendered useless in an argument.
An auction house in PoE would be the first nail in the games coffin. Did GGG not learn from Blizzard's mistake that the ultimate effect of an auction house is to drive up the value of items and drive down the player experience.

It really saddens me that GGG are heading in this direction.

this +1
Keep calm, play PoE, drink Tea & listen to Prog!
I'm gonna propose a trading system similar to poxnora's (for the browser based trading)
I really loved trading in that game, more than playing the game itself.

It's a bargain driven system where The seller posts what he wants to sell with a description(optional), and the potential buyer makes a bid which locks the items involved in
his offer for some time (think it was 6 hours). The seller can then reject/accept the bid
wait to see some more offers etc...
After the lock time has passed, the bidder can cancel his bid and unlock his items, or he can choose to wait more time for the buyer to decide.

It makes trading easy and fun.
(Not sure if the locking thing would work for poe though)

+1. No auction house.
Thing GGG is implementing is exactly what people are talking about. Poe.xyz integrated into the game with some more features - perfect.

Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge.

Sounds stupid. Except for the very highest end items you'll want to buy them *now*. If I need a new pair of dual res, max life and ms boots I'll want them *now*, not in 6 hours.

On the other hand I can imagine that you can't just go and buy a 6L shavs *now* (I don't know can't afford it anyways). But I think these kind of items are the exception, not the rule.

I too think xyz/procurement integrated into the game is the way to go
(you will need to implement search for seller tabs then, though, GGG. And no I don't buy your it's technically not possible excuse. I totally get why you don't implement search for stash tabs, but seriously, please cut the "technical excuse" crap. Just like in the recent patch notes, buy stash tab moves a remove only tab in for technical reasons. It's fine, we get why you do it, and it's okay to do so. Just cut the crap and be honest please or don't provice a reason at all. As Gaben said don't lie to the internet /minirant).
I'm not so sure about asynchronous trades though. I like that you actually have to talk to people in PoE to get your stuff.

If it's async in the way that the seller can specify a b/o and the buyer can just pay it and instanly get the item I feel it would actually take away from the trading experience.

If the seller still has to accept and it's basically just a PM system trough which you can bargain and the seller still has to put the boots in a trade window, it might be okay. As you could still have an online filter and have the system we're having now.

Cross instance trading/(party?) is a great thing though, party/a1n really sucks.

Soooooo... not signed. But yes something needs to be done. And I'd wish Chris would have given a clearer timeline. But in the end, I prefer if things are done when they're done, but then they must be done right. It's better than releasing half-baked crap. And I trust GGG to not fuck this up :) So take your time and do it right.

Big fat no to an AH.

"oh, look, it costs 1000 ex, now i try to sell mine for 1000 ex." *a week later* "why doesnt mine sell when all of them go for 1000ex on the AH?" - They are priced like that, it doesnt mean they sell for that.

The reason to not have an AH and why xyz price checking sucks.
