ReverendBizzarre: ele cleave templar [6k life, 45k+ dps]

Thanks for the feedback.

I ditched the mana cost reduction nodes and I'll probably end up going with this:

Has more int and a bit more dex and round it out with +20 ammy. Might as well get Elementalist since I'm wanting the int anyway. Also, I'll probably end up using Corsair swords (1.65) or Midnight blades (1.60) since they have much more reasonable str/dex requirements, instead of the 200+ dex of the rapiers.

Ye, that looks pretty good although going in the marauder starting area (or any other class starting point) always makes me cringe XD, it should do well. Hopefully you wont have any big dex problems for wielding weapons

You can't oneshot yourself against reflect for 2 resons, this build has a lot elemental resistances 80 to all to be precise, and it never crits because i took RT.

I only count
2x Body and Soul (10%)
1x Celestial Walker (10%)
1x each 18%

so this adds up to 48%.

Am I missing something ? ;)

yes, youre missing the resistances on gear :)

Am currently at 80%(elemental adaptation node gives you 5% to maximum resistances, a huge bonues) to all resistances so elemental reflect is pretty easy to deal with, and if you take Inner Force also use purity aura i think it buffs it up to 5% more maximum res, so you will be at 85% to all max then.

What specs should we shoot for, for starting maps?

Health / Resists / DPS etc

All of the above. Farm Sarn City in act 3 until about level 70 thats usually when everyone starts doing maps.

Would just like to say that it's worked extremely well for me so far on my first HC char, running around with lvl 20-30 weapons (attack speed scaling is insane for this build) in lvl45 zones and doing 1k dps (probably low for my level, but for my gear its 0.o) and 1900~ hp with again, bad gear. Thanks for putting it up, and I'm confused as to why it doesn't seem nearly as popular (maybe the visuals arent as much fun?) whenever it's so gear independent for starting chars comparing to most other builds I've seen on this forum.

Anyway, just wanted to bump it and say thanks to VictorDoom for the build.

Out of curiosity, are the +elemental damage w/ weapon nodes the only good ones for increasing damage or is there any reason why you dont go for +elemental damage nodes? I ask because I'm not sure about the mechanics, sorry if it's obvious. Though, when it comes down to it the damage scaling seems like it will be absurd with gear even without many other nodes (13k dps with a single target AND AoE attack? that blows away most figures I've seen for other builds.)

As well, why iron reflexes (I see it a lot, but many people complain about armor too...?) when armor scales relatively badly against the larger hits (things that actually kill us armor/(armor+12*damage))? I suppose any damage reduction is better than a chance to avoid it that doesn't do anything when it one shots us? Or does armors scaling improve significantly when adding in endurance charges? I do know we need the dex for better weapons, but that could be picked up with 30 dex nodes.

Anywho, sorry if these are stupid questions, I just started playing this a week ago and I'm trying to get a grasp on some of the more...obscure mechanics/scaling (I obviously don't have any high level experience to know how things work.)[Read the mechanics thread, it didn't really clear any of these up.]

As for the fire/lightning debate, wouldn't the lack of arcing blows make going through maurader start significantly less damage, as well as overloading on a lot of strength while you could pick up similar HP/HP regen in mid while picking up necessary dex? I wish I could find a summation of all the bonus' in a passive tree to properly compare .-.

Hey there, thanks for the great guide, very insightful :).
There's just one thing i am not sure about, if you use all 111 skillpoints, doesn't that mean you'd always take the skillpoint from the Bandit Quests?

I am kind of new here, so i am not sure if i'm missing something, because you wrote you'd only take the skill points once in the guide.

Bit hungover but ill try to answer this as best as i can :)

Not sure why its not popular, probably best to stay that way, we dont want to pay too much for ele 1h weaps do we now?XD
But on a more serious note, people probably need some incentive to try it, they mostly do this one after another build failed for them like kripps wander for example (which is probably not a good build to start with, you need ridiculous gear just to do okaysh in maps).

I did take the +ele damage nodes as you can see i took Celestial Walker(10% ele dmg, 10% to all rez), thats basically the reason i started as a templar, easy and early access to that node and the first mana regen point.

I took iron reflexes because i could get a lot of life that way, mana, and 30% ele damage from that area, and of course Iron reflexes with grace is a lot of armor. And also armro scales better with endu charges, thats the reason i took 1 from the tree and 1 from oak.

ask anything, people might want to ask the same thing, this way everyone has their answer!

Fire/light debate is something i dont really understand why there is one.. i have 30% to ALL elemental damage this way, without needing to sacrifice so many points in places i dont need.

You have 120 points in the game if you kill all bandits, the skill tree obviously still displays 111 for some reason, i should probably ask them to upgrade the web passive tree to 120.

Not very gear dependent, you can get to merciless with sub par gear.

Over-exaggerating just a bit maybe...lol? I say this because I've tried 3 builds (one being Invalesco's) and I end up failing around Act 1 or Act 2 Cruel due to lack of DPS or survivability (or both lol).
