What are the disadvantages of going life and running like a 6l coil instead of shavs?

Never played a low-life character or taken Zealot's Oath and Ghost Reaver before so I'm slightly confused- how does one not lose all their life when using blood magic to attack with lightning strike? I don't quite see how you get your life back when all of the regen and steal is reapplied to your ES instead. Thanks in advance for your time and insight!

I played with a variant of this build (low-life, but no Zealot and RF, and Vaal Pact up) and now I'm running this build ("original" version). I'm sustaining RF, but not sustaining RF+BR while no attacking. My level is at 81, where a have to go now? (= Sorry for bad english. GEAR

Quick question: when taking the flask nodes above witch, why not continue from there to instability -> spellpower on PC -> heart of thunder? Also in general wondering why not get the extra end/power/frenzy charges that could be very easily taken?
