1.3 The Community's Molten Strike, Face Melting Build!! 1h+shield and 2h variants available
Going to be looking at altering the aura setups for the main build. More so seeing if I can fit a 4L HoA instead of Hatred. It would overall increase AoE clear speed and would provide the same damage bonus for those taking AoF early on. Just not sure what defenses I want to give up for it.

Hi guys, there is my variation of this build. Nothing really new here, just a few tweaks here and there. Currently I'm at level 95 and playing in Standard (yes I like Scrubcore :).
My char is able to run any maps/mods and their combo, while dealing some decent DPS. The gear used is pretty cheap compared to that other end-game builds require (all my gear total is worth like one pair of Atziri gloves or so). Skilltree

I prefer Templar area because of Str/Int nodes rather than Dex ones. Str gives me more HP and slightly higher DPS, and I need at least 113 Int in order to use Doryani Catalyst so every Int node counts. Also I like these extra ES and resists from 'Sanctuary' and 'Spiritual guardian' shield nodes. Gear
Spoiler
The gear is pretty self explanatory - armor, ES, HP and Str, some resists and a bit of extra Int. The Taming ring gives nice DPS boost but it's not mandatory in any way. The only expensive piece is armor, but you can use almost any 6L chest or even Tabula to some point of leveling. If you use non-legacy 2% Aegis it's absolutely ok, it will work just fine. Auras
Spoiler
1. Reduced Mana - Anger - Empower 2. Reduced Mana - Herald of Ash - Elemental Proliferation - Item Rarity 3. Reduced Mana - Storm Shield - Blind This setup reserves exactly 100% of your mana pool, assuming you use lvl 20 Reduced Mana and you have no aura passives at all. Offensive stats with Molten Strike
Spoiler
According to wiki, 'The damage dealt and DPS values shown on this ability's tooltip only indicates the statistics of the initial hit and does not in any way show the damage of the projectiles'. I made some calculations using Google spreadsheets found on first page of this thread and it looks like my projectiles should do about 40-50K DPS in addition to initial hit, which makes pretty enough total. Defensive stats with Tempest Shield active
Spoiler
Best defense is multi-layered defense, so with this build I have 5800 HP, 800ES, 74/60 block, 8200 Armor, 4 endurance charges cast through CWdT and overcapped resists. Thank you everyone who contributed to development of this build and special thx to thread starter. If you have any comments or questions, feel free to ask. | |
Good job Gat, great gear, i especialy like the lvl 21 purity of fire and empower, im still trying an aura build and i had had that same thought, lvl 21 pof, and alphas howl( +tempest shield, anger, grace or determination), be a while before I set it all up as the cost is about 17ex (need 2 21 reduced mana) Would be a great atziri farming machine.

I just started making a Ranger Molten Strike toon for Rampage. Still undecided how I want the skill tree to be. I can't decide.

Wanted to know the direct advantages of getting Avatar of Fire.
A bunch of people advised against it, but I figured it must be good. Im still kind of new |
|
Theres a couple of advantages to aof, it tends to boost tool tip dps, it also means at late game eg lvl 84 up all of your attack can be benefited by fire penetration gem (many enemies have high fire resistance late game). Finally many people can run on 2% fire leech which frees up 1 gem slot for added fire dmg, faster attacks or concentrated effect. There are disadvantage, less versatile dmg, no possibility of physical dmg leech (the easiest type to get) no other elemental affects eg freezing enemies with hatred aura. Really your choice, by lvl 80 + spending a few regrets isnt that big a deal so give both a try.

Hello, new player here, I have a couple questions.
1. Is there a specific point at which I should take Avatar of Fire? I'm level 47, cruel act 2, and I'm not sure if I should take it yet. I have a 5 link with the recommended setup, but I'm using life on hit instead of life leech. 2. Life leech vs life on hit, what is the math on this? Given my progression level, is life leech better at this point? Does Avatar of Fire have any bearing on whether I should use life leech or life on hit? I was under the impression that Avatar of Fire stopped life leech from working, but I'm guessing that I'm wrong. |

The life leech gem gives leech on all types of damage. Physical life leech generally found on rings and gloves is only from physical damage. Its your call which is best for you, Mollari who has a very high crit damage molten strike build in the ranger forum uses lgoh, his attack speed will be much greater then ours so many more projectiles hitting and giving life back. Personally i think life leech for our build is better (once over lvl 45 or so).

" 1) AoF is a late game switch unless you are running the burn prolif build, then its wanted very early on. I personally took AoF once I had Doryani's Catalyst because of its 100% increased Elemental Damage. Before then I would wait. Fire pen is pretty much a requirement to have slotted when you do this otherwise you will spend a good second against heavy fire resist mobs. 2) LGoH is a flat amount gained and is great at low levels. LL is a mid/end game transition gem. For MS we take this gem quite early (I think I switched at 31 once we can use it b/c of the massive damage provided with Geofri's). LL caps at 20% life/second LEVEL BOTH AND HAVE BOTH ON HAND LL will be your primary but when you enter a corrupted zone or map that has 50% slower regen or similar mods, you will want to switch to LGoH Since it is not a regen but an insta heal and will keep your HP up. |

Hello everyone, i have a question about when to switch to one-hand/shield. Maybe this Question was asked before but this thread is realy long and i didnt find any answer.
Atm i am playing with a 2-Haner and leveling was a blast. It was so easy! very very good build specially for beginners, and i am one. I even did Dominus, with level 60! so much fun! but i think it is time to go more tanky, at least i want to and i dont know what kind of One-hand weapon i should look for now. Is it even viable going one-hand shield before Doryani's Catalyst? and if so, what should a rare (oder other Unique) look like. Same goes for the shield. I really hope you can help me out =) |
