Garena is adding skill tree resets as a micro transaction in 1.1.3. Thoughts?

I was so determined to stay away form that topic, but I really cant believe some people try to claim it is not P2W.

How is it not P2W when a normal player needs to spend 60+ regrets to reset their tree, while someone can do it with the slip of a credit card?

Now you know how I feel in the Star Citizen forums x(
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.
i can understand the fact, that this is just a huuuge market... pay to win , not pay to win...
they experimenting with buz models, to get enough money to keep poe alive the next years..
1 repec pack is worth 0.49$

what if they sold 12311 a day? and this maybe very day? i think in oder to look for the bigger picture dis simple thing is not a problem.

and btw sry, but WHO cares what they did with there asia section... IT DOES NOT MATTER TO MY GAMEPLAY here
why are some of you whining soooo much... instead writing 28 pages, why not grinding for regrets?

cheeRs and spread my words now!

Like others have said, it's pretty silly the way they try to justify this.

Being able to more easily respec will help retain players, but charging money for it in a supposed F2P game is a very bad idea, imo.

Of course, increasing the drop rate of regret orbs would be unthinkable! Why reward the players who play the game when we can just reward the one who have more money than they know what to do with?

"Hello Player. We see you stopped playing Path of Exile because your character's build is a failwhale. We've increased the droprate of Orb of Regret and added new vendor recipies that allow you to easily trade for Orb of Regret after painfully grinding Ledge/Fellshrine/Docks for 60 hours with your messed up build. We hope to see you in game again soon."

Well, a lot of people have been asking for it. I wonder how many are willing to jump through the hoops to play on Garena rather than here.

I can't say too much about this stuff, but I do know that Chris was very picky about who got to license PoE. It doesn't take a genius to figure out some pretty hefty parties have shown interest in it.

You have a point, but what about regret orbs? Will those be deflated to Scouring?

I don't see how my point relates to in-game economy, but to be utterly honest, I'd be surprised if Garena PoE even has a healthy economy.

With the introduction of this MTX, whatever sliver of a "healthy" economy they had before is sure as hell gone now.

Yeah, those players who quit in frustration due to low Regret drop-rates are going to be so happy that they can now throw dollar bills at Garena/GGG for a function that should've been easier to do in-game in the first place! I mean, South-East Asian players must be overflowing with disposable income!

Almost like pouring salt in a wound. First you nerf drop rates of a certain item/currency, then you introduce a MTX that provides the same in-game benefits of said nerfed item/currency. Such business! Much logic!

For complains about drop rates, please direct your moaning and whining at Chris and the rest of the GGG crew. Thank you for your jolly co-operation. :)

Seriously, yes, that offer is a good thing. I guess many people quit because while they have semi-okayish gear, their build is messed up so much that doesn't get them anywhere (e.g. not enough increased maximum life, not enough attack speed, not enough resistance nodes to help out with your non-perfect gear, ...). Offering a MTX to allow a respec without having to grind with the broken build for a godawful amount of time does make it easier for people to come back.

The reason for that is simple: you can always get more money, but you can never get more time.

While I don't have any family obligations, I'm still working 40 hours per week. Now add in other hobbies (reading/writing, D&D, gym, ...) and I just can't play PoE for 6 hours a day (aside from weekends). If you now add a SO and/or children, the decision becomes even easier. Pay a couple dollars to respec your character so that you can keep playing him, or waste a whole week of free time on grinding a new character (time which you'd have rather spent with your family or your other hobbies/obligations).

Dont understand how a NON trade-able tree reset is pay 2 win.
Following your logic, a NON trade-able 500 passive points pack is not pay 2 win too. Its NON trade-able man, how its a p2w?

And that's about as strawmanish as any strawman argument can ever get. *facepalm*

Passive points directly increase a character's power. Respec points don't.

Selling passive points allows a character to get more life than before. Selling respec points doesn't.

Selling passive points allows a character to get more/higher defenses than before. Selling respec points doesn't.

Selling passive points allows a character to get higher damage output than before. Selling respec points doesn't.

Selling passive points allows a character to be much more flexible than before. Selling respec points doesn't.

Your comparison is bad, and you should feel bad. Please try again with a real argument.

yes they should quit the game, because poe does not need any lame players... just the good one, with some brain left for nice game mechanic... i guess that was what you would say?

Oh, you mean like all the whine threads about invasion were being made by noob players? Or do you mean that totally awesome tutorial PoE has, that answers all questions a beginning player could have about the game mechanics, and helps him to build a character that doesn't hit a wall in A2C?

Yeah, yeah, I think I get what you mean. You think "PoE == game for no-lifers." In that case, I guess you're in for a pretty big surprise.

Btw: you fail at quoting. :P
