GGGs reasoning on not making a SFL?
" Actually this is something I proposed quite some time ago. Permanent league forget it. And even a 4 month league might be too long. Just make a 2 weeks/a month long race where the SFL-gang can play. At the end of the league, all chars + stash go to void league. Then you can increase the drops. Something similar as is done in a Descent Champions race. I hope they'll have fun with their little internal competition. Edit: Now that I actually checked some stats from the SFL-gurus, I see they hardly participate in races which are in fact the ideal medium for what they wish. Yet they do not make use of it. " Your mistake is here, by assuming PoE does have a barter economy. It does not. You try to buy your stuff from a market inflated by flippers, bots, RMTers, and some extremely rich parties who manipulate prices, with the gold coins (orbs) you try gain by selling your stuff to same market. And about what is *fun* about SFL. You find X, Q, T. You start theory crafting what build you can do with these, or simply build a new char with Q and T. Every piece of loot gains value as a potential rerun. Last edited by symban#2593 on Apr 29, 2014, 9:57:40 AM

" I would support it!! The only small concern I have is about the last point: I understand why you put it ( no trading by item dropping) and agree, my concern is about the skill Animate Weapon and how I it works - or the way I use it ( carry around a few weapons in my inventory and drop them as needed...), that - and Guardian - should be addressed. I sure love when I see a GGG tag, only to come in and find nothing of value was posted, at all.
What the fuck kind of "moderation" is this? Why the fuck would you post it in the thread, rather than PMing the players? |

" Agree, at least not in the beginning. A 2-3 week SFL as testing grounds would be the way to go, and catch the feedback for players and ultimately decide whether it would be a good thing to implement a real SFL. It's not about the competition, at least that's not the core of it. That's already been said. Don't even bring up the races, and no, they aren't the ideal medium for what they wish, because they are short, they are about constant rerolling. And a very small part of playerbase actually likes that, hence the amount of players in races. |

" [Removed by Support] Week long races? Self found? When trading is disabled, it will take several weeks, month for some, to get geared up. Even years, for some casuals. Without trading, there is only time. What is a race good for? Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you. " I don't do race because 1. I don't care for competition. 2. They are mostly hardcore based (I play standard). 3. Drop rates are exactly the same (except descent). 4. They have time constraints (it took me one year to gear up and reach lvl76 maps, another reason I only play standard). 5. I hate the first 1-2 hours of the game (Having one year worth of self-found twink gear in my stash tabs is the only thing that makes re-rolling tolerable). If there was a long SFL test race with increased drop, I might care to return to try it. | |

Regarding races: I would be more inclined to participate if they had a system, for example, that every account had 2 hours - and then you had 1 week to complete your 2 hours. Rewards given based on quickest completions of certain items...
I will never race in the current environment because I can't designate specific time starts based on "their" schedule. I have a job, a family, and other time commitments. Until they start all races on "Isbox1's time schedule" =/ It's the same reason I no longer raid in MMOs. I just can never commit to a specific time of day - even a random one. I often can play during X to Y time, however that fluctuates with my work schedule. I'm sure a lot of people feel exactly the same as I do regarding races. Races are a broken system that favors people who have no jobs... in a system that already favors people who have no jobs. |
